We've had another calf. Utie and Saskatoon had a handsome black bull calf yesterday. Mom's too protective to get a close up shot of this beauty yet. I need help giving him a "B" name so iu love to hear your suggestions.
Last night we were woken up by a very intense storm that went through. Hail by the sounds hitting our windows, 10 mm of rain, gusting winds and lots of lightening that lasted about 10 minutes. That was long enough to start washing away my driveway and make the kennel a mud pit. Dry weather in the forecast for the next few days, fingers crossed.
Amazing the difference a little rain and sunshine can make in 6 weeks.
Father and son sharing a meal. Spirit dotes on his youngest son, Cash.
I've always admired how intelligent pigs are. I put new straw in Moya's pen and watched as she scooped up mouthfuls of it, took it to her sleeping area and shook her head to spread it out evenly, creating a nice bed for her piglets. What a good Mom!
Last year our friend Hank came with his family to tour the farm. He took this beautiful shot of one of our Highland moms.
Yesterday, our friends Bill and Mac came to help us separate cattle. Mac and I reat t the gates while Bob and Bill separated the cows from the beef animals. It went so well we didn't even need the cattle chute. Thanks Bill and Mac! Now all the Highlands are enjoying the fresh spring grass.
Finally able to post again, we've been having some technical difficulties. Moya has 7 cute little piglets now. They're so small to start and Moya is so careful, pushing them in front of her with her nose before she lays down.
TingTing waiting for Bob, her favourite person, to get home. This is where she normally waits when she hears the school bus unless its raining or too cold. This smart little Jack Russell was adopted by us 9 years ago. We hadn't intended to own a little dog but when she saw Bob for the first time, she jumped into his arms and his heart.
Bob finished Moya's new pen yesterday and she settled right in. She walked up and thanked Bob, then looked to see where her food was, then started to root around and settle in.
The other day, friends of ours came by with their very exuberant lab, Sauble. Everyone was having trouble walking her. After 15 minutes of instructions, everyone could walk her at heal, yeah!! Then the boys got to visit with a puppy :)
Just figured out I can't put multiple videos onto one post.
Here are Billie's first attempts at standing. He made it as soon as I walked away. :-) Thanks to Rob for the name suggestion.
