HUMP DAY #8 Normally this week we would be busy loading our truck for Christie. Alas. Instead we are listing four items that we had planned to take there. The challenge we face is that at a show buyers would have touched, inspected, listened to, and used their expertise to determine if the items were right for them. Through Facebook touch, sound, testing are replaced by photos and conversations with me either through messaging or phone. So please ask as many questions as ...you like. More photos can be supported as well. Take care. #1. $375 Japanese AGS Electric Guitar, 1960s, solid body, original tuners, nice details like mirror pick guard & blue sparkles in pickups, good overall condition, one chip on back, old but not original Japanese hard carrying case, bought from a professional musician, one string twangs needs adjustment. #2. $250 Japanese Electric Guitar, 1960s, solid body, original tuners, no name but possibly an Imperial, very good condition, well-tuned, bought from the same professional musician, original hard carrying case. #3. $90 Aro Kitchen Clock, Canadian made clock, Quebec possibly Montreal, little known about company, great looking clock, carved woman’s head, carved lions, decorated door, post WWII, pendulum, no key, not tested, fresh house picked. #4. SOLD Octagonal Mahogany School House Regulator Clock, American clock but no name on face, second hand, 19th C, key and pendulum, not tested, fresh house picked.

It’s Hump Day #6. It’s also 50 days since many of us have been locked down. And frankly it’s getting a bit old. What I’ve learned over these past weeks is it’s easier to talk the talk than walk the walk. Almost every day I have kept to a gold standard of personal/family safety: if I went to the store I pre-ordered and used curbside pick-up, hand sanitizer (including my gloves!), etc. The post office is rural so had sanitizing and social distancing was adequate. For the ...few buying or selling personal contact times, gloves, masks by at least one person (usually me), hand sanitizer etc. were rigorously followed. I talked the talk and walked the walk. Then this week, I relaxed. I went on a picking trip; hand sanitized, wore gloves and for my house call stayed outside for most of the time, bought things in the garage maintaining my social distance. But no mask. I didn’t want to set up social/psychological barriers when I was trying to establish a rapport and build up a working relationship. Several times I bought things that were handed to me, breaking the 6’ rule. But just for a matter of a few seconds each time. So to further my own ends to do business I took chances. So I get it, easy to talk the talk but harder to walk the walk. I had a successful buying trip and what follows are some of the goodies I was able to secure this time out. More will be posted soon. Oh and I spent the whole next day researching what I had bought, who made it, etc. I am no expert but pass on what I have learned from more knowledgeable folks. Prices include HST. Shipping and handling is extra. 1. 1950’s TIN LITHO MERCEDES BENZ, friction toy, by Nomura (TN), Japan, working, very good condition, 8 l SOLD 2. VINTAGE LINDSTOM SHOW BOAT, tin litho wind-up, working condition, needs a good cleaning, 8 l SOLD 3. UNIQUE ART KRAZY KAR wind-up toy, not working, original clown, arm missing, good paint & graphics.
