Baseball Canada's Coaching Committee awards Grassroots Coaches. The award is given to grassroots coaches who have demonstrated a positive coaching approach through the year, adhering to the LTAD principles, put forward some innovative developmental ideas while creating a fun environment for the young players. These winners are excellent role models while encouraging players to return to the game of baseball next season. Baseball BC is very proud to announce the following BC Girls Baseball Program award winning coaches. Congratulations to Stacy Fournier, Emily Fournier, Paige McDonnell, Niki Boyd, Kristi Watson, Claire Eccles, Liz Gilder, Katie Reyes and Marika Lyszczyk.

The PCBUA had some fun "At the Nat" in early October for this years PCBUA banquet! The group played an intrasquad style game on the Minor-League Stadium on October 3rd. Team Bourgeois managed to scrape out the W against Team Klein in a 7 inning battle, by a final score of 7-5. Potential Highlight of the game was something unexpected: Lead-off hitter, Joe Mallinson donned a groundbreaking helmet; it was a "working prototype of the special protective gear specifically design...ed to counter Joe’s penchant for attracting baseballs to him, particularly in the head area." It was a fun experience for the players involved. If you would like to read the full (and hilarious) release, it can be found here: https://baseball.bc.ca/plenty-of-fun-at-nat-bailey

BREAKING: Effective Immediately, Baseball BC is moving all in person baseball programming taking place in the lower mainland’s two Regional Health Authorities (Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health) back to Phase 2 of our Return to Play (RTP) Guidelines. ... Details on Baseball BC’s Phase 2 RTP guidelines can be found on our webpage at: https://baseball.bc.ca/return-to-play under the heading Phase 2 (June 7 to July 9). This RTP Phase movement and the additional restrictions / requirements come in part as a result of new Provincial Health Officer Orders issued on November 7, 2020 in response to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. The Orders issued are for a two-week period ending at midnight on Sunday November 23. These Orders are open to extension by order of the PHO. All member groups and local associations are also required to review the new PHO orders and review and revise respective COVID safety plans and policies and adapt where necessary. Finally, we would like to remind all organizations that local municipalities may have additional requirements and are encouraged to check with all their facility partners and municipalities for any other requirements. Please note Baseball BC will continue to monitor provincial health orders and direction from viaSport as they are made available and base all future programming adjustment decisions as required.
