Burnaby Baseball Association 26.12.2020

This weekend, November 28th Baseball BC will be hosting a High Performance Zoom event. This event is hosted free of charge. Registration can be found here https://baseball.bc.ca/high-performance-seminar-success---o This is a great opportunity to provide content for your HP program, specifically given that some indoor facilities are restricting access to training at this time.

Happy Friday! Dear Burnaby Baseball Family. Just a reminder that our Annual General Meeting is this Saturday, October 24th at 11am (sign in at 10:30am) and held at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex and on Zoom. Please join us either through Zoom or in-person by registering through our website at www.burnabybaseball.com/agm2020 We will revisit where we've been, talk about where we are now and look ahead on what is to come which we believe will be successful seasons of baseball ...for our players. All information about the AGM is on our website. Now a quick word on what's ahead. At this point, BBA fully expects to have spring and summer seasons in 2021. Therefore, volunteers are needed in all areas of operations and the AGM is a great time for you to ask questions about the needs of BBA, discuss any particulars or clarifications for each need and connect with our board members on how you might provide support in giving our players another successful season of baseball! Register, come with ideas and questions and we hope to see you at AGM! Sincerely, Jonathan Chan and the BBA Board of Directors

North Fraser Nationals the 2020 BC Minor Baseball 18U College Prep Provincial Champions! Congratulations to Burnaby's North Fraser Nationals for winning the 2020 BC Minor Baseball 18U College Prep Provincial Championship over the Labour Day Weekend in its inaugural year at the College Prep Level. On the first day of the tournament they had an extremely slow start going 0-2 losing to the Chilliwack Cougars 14-4 and Vancouver Island Mariners 4-2. Due to the 2 losses on the f...irst day, the Nationals were in a must win situation in the final 2 games of the round robin to even have a chance to make the championship round. The team fought back and managed to beat Kelowna Sun Devils 5-2 and the Cloverdale Nationals 9-6 to go 2-2 in the round robin and managed to qualify for the final spot in the championship round. On championship day, the Nationals avenged both of their earlier losses by beating the Vancouver Island Mariners 5-1 in the semifinals and then beating the Chilliwack Cougars, the provincial champions 3 of the last 4 years and the current defending champions, 5-3 in the final. Great come back by the players who persevered and maintained their confidence that they had the ability to perform at their best when it counted the most. Well deserving CHAMPIONS.

Fall Ball Registration Open for 11U 18U We hope everyone is doing well this summer! South Burnaby, Vancouver Minor and Burnaby Baseball Association recently met to discuss a potential baseball season this fall for 11U to 18U divisions. We agreed on a bubble format which will be explained below. We are opening fall registration and hope that we can garner enough registrations and, most importantly, coaches for each division to populate bubbles for inter-league play and pl...ayer development beginning in September. If you have any questions in addition to what is given below, please give us an email or message us. Sign up here: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/241559/signups/new Fall Ball 2020 is open to the following Year of Births (YOB): 18U (YOB’s): 2003 | 2004 | 2005 15U (YOB’s): 2006 | 2007 13U (YOB’s): 2008 | 2009 11U (YOB’s): 2010 | 2011 New Players welcome All NEW players must complete all RTP Waivers and Documents (see below). ALL players/families are to familiarize themselves with all RTP Guidelines and Protocols found on our website or you can peruse through the links below the registration button below. BBA will be bubbled with South Burnaby and Vancouver Minor for 11U | 13U | 15U (our 18U Bubble/Cohort TBD). Teams are not allowed to play outside their designated bubble/cohort. Fall Ball will run from September 12 October 12 (weather pending) and is a great way for players moving up a Division to adjust to new field dimensions before next spring. Focus will be practice and development with games scheduled to be played mainly on weekends (unless away team has lights at their field for an odd evening weeknight game). Registration will close Sunday, August 30 @ Midnight, and practices will begin shortly after. 11U | 13U | 15U Coaches needed, if you are interested please email [email protected] or [email protected] For this to work we need enough coaches to form the teams and populate the bubbles! We are all missing baseball right now and seeing our friends and families on an off the field. As of now, there is no set start date for our season and we are following all the guidelines to keep everyone safe. ProStock is a locally run store in Burnaby and our regular BBA supplier. They have a fully stocked inventory and are available to take online orders and do curb-side pickups. A bow net might come in handy in a time like this. If there is anything you need, please... check them out. They have a sale on now with discounts up to 25% off. See their flyer for more information. Stay safe and take care.
