LONGTABLES: Catalysts of change Over the last three years we created value from waste, but we also almost exclusively worked with clients that we share deep values with.Organisations that have shifted culture, changed behaviors, moved the dial on key social innovations. It was so much fun, so much pain, so much work. Some of my most favourite projects has been with good friends. Friends who get that we do what we do because someone has to do it. Now, I see so many people doin...g the same and it makes my heart happy. If you're in the upcycling business, the reclaimed wood business or in the social impact sphere, you're an ally. Jennifer Angela McRae and Altaira Northe are two such people. I just recently met Altaira and already I see why these two work together. The newest co-working space on the #Sunshinecoast is @FuseCommunityWorkhub I was honored to be asked to build yet another longtable so that people can be brought together around important issues and work. I have been dubbed the Longtable Guy and I think it’s time to step up and Own it. I, in collaboration with some amazing people, have designed and built three #longtables in my life. The CityStudio Vancouver #Longtable has hosted hundreds of people convening around issues of sustainability and change in Vancouver, British Columbia. The second longtable provided a place to eat and convene for an adopted family of twenty or so orphans in Shongwe South Africa. Yesterday I finished the latest Longtable for these women at #FUSE. My hope is that it will have the same power to convene and spark collaborations the other two has had! Knowing these two women, this is the beginning of a new community of #changemakers and practitioners of meaningful work on the coast. This weekend I will be at the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2017 hosting a public workshop on #upcycling, #recovery tools and dismantling. The "Upcycle like you give a damn" workshop will invite you to come and try some new tools, Learn how to use an industrial sewing machine(crash Course) and where to find materials to upcycle and make things with. It will be a step by step guide to empowering yourself to upcycle first and buy and own less. If your keen to learn, were keen to show you how we have made a business from waste material redesign. Join the community of repair, upcycle and rethinking the discarded. Workshop is only $15 and will change the way you look at discarding things. Join me on Saturday at 4:15 to 5:45.

Hey fellow makers and friends! It's been a while! I want to crowdsource some ideas. I made this table and am getting it ready to sell, however, I received some feedback that the red eye in the middle is somewhat distracting. I'm curious about what you would do to make it really awesome. I am looking for some inspiration. The hole is there as a result of the glue up and the red epoxy is clashing with the essence of the wood. Send me your ideas! Please!!

Well, I'm officially back at work creating upcycled artwork for Haeccity Studio. Reusing some serious hardware on this one. After an eight month Haitus at school it's nice to see sawdust flying again. Some upcoming design workshops in the work! Keep tuned!
