I cannot say how important this finding is. For more than 25 years I have waited for this particular case of psychiatric malpractice to be generally acknowledged publicly and legal sanctions to be applied to those responsible. While this case is an extreme example of what happens when you give authority to a profession who are not fully accountable for their actions, don't think it is the only example. Reports of persistent harm done to people in the name of psychiatric treatment are everywhere. The extraordinary legal powers and unwarranted authority of psychiatrist, who employ utterly unproven and unjustified management and chemical interventions on patients must now be reconsidered everywhere in the western world.
"[My] research included visiting Doukhobor sites in the province" says B. A. Thomas-Peter in an interview on the British Columbia Historical Federation blog. "...In visiting the homes of some of those who were the children of New Denver, I was informed of the culture of the times, the confusing misinformation and political struggles within the community, the pain of constant misrepresentation of their community and beliefs, and the injustice they feel even now." This was fun to do.
Early days using social media!
Finally gone to the printers, after several changes of name and design. Here is the cover of my next novel, 'The Kissing Fence', to be published by Caitlin Press in March 2020. Pre orders can be made in Amazon.ca and several other booksellers. If you want the back story, it can be found at, https://bit.ly/2D24EYO
First mock up of cover for my new novel. Publication date is 6th March 2020 (Caitlin Press). The title has changed twice!
Love this. This guy is 92 and is still a boy, enjoying the slightly risky adventure of walking the edge of the sea wall. What would his mother say!
I've been thinking about the phenomenon of Baby Boomers selling Millennials more drugs, more guns, more debt and more lies than ever before. It has a certain irony about it, especially as it is Baby Boomers who constantly disparage Millennials for their sense of entitlement! It seems that Baby Boomers, in the USA and to a lesser extent elsewhere, are determined to indenture the young; enslaving them to an exclusive group of uber-rich while controlling opportunities, ravaging the planet and breaking their spirit. So I was especially pleased to see a journalist (who happens to be my daughter) spot the optimism in this dystopian vision. Maybe we all need to learn from our children a bit more and maybe the young will rise up and take charge of their destiny. I hope so.
A real pleasure to interview Professor Adam Morton at the launch of his new book on 8th December 2018. (Interview starts at the 2 min mark)
