Bathurst Regional Airport / Aéroport régional de Bathurst 25.09.2020

In response to the news from Air Canada of flights being suspended in four New Brunswick airports from March 23rd to April 30th. The Bathurst Regional Airport would like to issue the following statement: Your Bathurst Regional Airport is taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of our staff, visitors and our community.... Consequently, our offices will be closed to the general public, although we are maintaining essential staff for other air traffic and Medevac services. For all questions about flights, route modifications or suspensions, please contact Air Canada directly. For the complete list of suspensions, you can find them here: https://bit.ly/AirCanadaRoute While your Bathurst Regional Airport is equipped and prepared to function as usual, it is crucial for us to all do our part to stop the propagation. The measures we are taking are in line with other airports our size, and we are in close contact with our partners in this period of rapid change. We have been increasing cleaning protocols and safety measures to ensure the health and wellness of our staff and visitors. Furthermore, I would like to publicly thank our staff for their diligence, understanding and cooperation in these challenging times. I would also like to extend our staff's appreciation to our clients and the general public for their consideration and adherence to the government's recommendations. It's in times like these that we clearly see what a wonderful community we live in Sincerely, Jamie DeGrace, CEO Bathurst Regional Airport

Wouldn’t you love to land on the North Pole on a day like today? That’s what Lieutenant Colonels William P. Benedict and Joseph O. Fletcher from the U.S. Air Force did on May 3, 1952. They piloted a ski-equipped Air Force C-47.... LCOL Fletcher then went on a walk to reach the geographic North Pole. He thus became the first person in history to undisputedly stand on the North Pole. : Also aboard this expedition to the North Pole was the scientist Albert P. Crary, who later reached the South Pole in 1961 and became the first person in history to visit both poles.

On April 17, 1971, the American company Federal Express delivered its first package by air service, marking the beginning of air delivery. During his studies at Yale in the 1960s, the company's founder Fred Smith saw a need for a reliable system for urgent delivery of products such as medicine and electronic products. He wrote an academic paper on the subject which did not attract the attention of his professors at the time.... His paper became a reality on April 17, 1971. It’s on that day that Federal Express began its big adventure with 14 small delivery aircraft that made 186 deliveries to 25 cities in the United States. Now called FedEx, the company is present in more than 220 countries around the world. By 2019, it was delivering an average of 6.2 million packages per day worldwide.

Exactly fifty-three years ago, the Boeing 737 was taking its very first flight. The Boeing Commercial Airplanes company started designing it in 1964, and the initial model entered into service in 1968 with the Lufthansa airline. Since their beginnings, the Boeing 737 models have become the world's best-selling airliners, closely followed by the Airbus A320 models.

Imagine this: you're piloting your aircraft in a quest to become one of the very first in human history to fly over the Earth's highest peak! Such was the feat accomplished by Lord Clydesdale, flying a modified Westland PV-3 accompanied with Colonel Stewart Blacker on April 3, 1933. They were the first pilots to fly over the Everest, followed closely by pilot and Lieutenant David McIntyre and photographer S. R. Bonnett (to whom we owe this incredible photo!).... It then took another 20 years to conquer Everest on foot! What a remarkable view they must have had!
