Groupings BHS will be putting students in groups. We are not using the alphabet. We, however, cannot guarantee who you will be going to school with nor can we make all kinds of changes to the schedule to accommodate all friends on the same day. We certainly tried our best to put students in some groups with some friends. Students will find out their group next week when they come to school on their designated day. In saying this, some students may need to change from one... day to the next after they’ve been given their original assignment. The reason for this is because we have been directed by the province to try and keep our classroom numbers small. We need to put in place all protocols regarding safety and physical distancing and therefore cannot accommodate large classes. Think of this as a giant jig-saw puzzle because that is what it is. Please do not ask to change groups because we cannot accommodate these requests. It is not as simple as one may think. We certainly want students to enjoy school and that is why we are attempting to group students with some of their friends. We will do our best is all that I can say but there are many factors involved in the whole process. Thank you.

Hello BHS Families. I hope you are enjoying the long weekend before school starts. This is a reminder that only Grade 12 students come on Tuesday September 8th. Only Grade 11 students come on Wednesday September 9th. Please make sure you have a mask and we ask that you sanitize your hands on the way into school. Masks must be wore at all times until you actually sit down in a classroom. I know this will be a bit strange but we will all get use to it. You will go to your homeroom classes. These lists will be posted in the Saint John Street Lobby on your way into school if you can't remember who your homeroom teacher was last year. See you on Tuesday Grade 12s.

For those wondering and asking about school supplies for high school - Once you get to high school there is no school supply list. Each student likes to organize their work in different ways and we encourage this autonomy. On your first days of classes, some teachers may have a thing or two that they specifically want. Other than that you will need the basics for 5 courses. (Binder(s), paper, pencils/pens, paper, scientific calculator, etc)

Bathurst High School 19.04.2020

Hello BHS Families, We hope you are having a great summer. As the school year approaches, we wanted to reach out with some information for the upcoming school year. Although this school year will be a bit different, we are looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great year!... School starts on September 8th however, given the new procedures and guidelines that will be implemented, the first week will be a staggered entry with students coming only one day during the week. This day will allow students to get their schedule, make changes (if needed) and become familiar with the new guidelines and procedures. A schedule detailing what day each student will come during that first week will be released during the week of August 31st. This is the week teachers return to school. For this year, students will attend school every second day and participate in online/home learning on the other day. This is a new process for students and teachers so we will need to be patient with each other as we settle into this new schedule. Also, it is very important to note that each student will be required to come to school with a community mask (unless they have a medical exemption preventing them from wearing a mask). These will be worn at all times except when in the classroom (distancing of 1m in place) or eating (distancing of 2m in place). We understand that there are many questions surrounding returning to school and we ask that you be patient as we work together to put a plan in place that follows all safety recommendations. We will continue to communicate updates through our Facebook page, website as well as phone calls through School Connect. Once again, thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We look forward to working with all students and BHS families during the 2020-2021 school year.
