Since we're in the second wave of the pandemic and we want all of our visitors to stay safe, we’re asking that no more than 10 people visit a grave at our cemeteries at any one time. We’re also asking that visitors maintain physical distance and wear face masks or coverings when social distancing is not possible. For funerals and unveilings, we’re asking families to keep gatherings as small as possible (under 25 people, if possible). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Keep safe.

Bathurst Lawn Proposed Unveiling Protocols No unveilings will be allowed before Sunday, June 28, 2020. Unveilings will be permitted, Sunday to Friday by Appointment ONLY... Families are encouraged to hold unveilings on weekdays, as opposed to just on Sunday. Sunday slots will be harder to book. There may be NO more than 50 attendees for an unveiling and proper social distancing must be exercised. (This is subject to change at the discretion of either the Bereavement Authority of Ontario or Bathurst Lawn.) Officiating Clergy will be required to monitor and enforce all Covid-19 protocols. Unveiling services must be completed within 30 minutes. We will be scheduling based on 30-minute intervals. The time limit is also meant to discourage socializing after the service. 30 minutes is more than sufficient time for a monument unveiling. For everyone’s safety, the cemetery building, washrooms and handwashing stations will all remain closed. If families just show up for unscheduled (‘pop-up’) unveilings and if their pop-ups interfere at all in our sole discretion with a properly scheduled unveiling or a funeral, the pop-up attendees will be asked to leave our grounds immediately and they can wait outside of our gates until the area has cleared from the properly scheduled unveiling/funeral. Priority for the scheduling of unveilings will be given to families who have waited the longest since interment or whose unveilings were cancelled due to pandemic. We will contact these families and determine their plans over the next week. We have begun scheduling unveilings. To schedule YOUR Unveiling Please contact the Bathurst Lawn Office @ (416)223-1373 to arrange. There will have to be a minimum of one week between when an unveiling is scheduled with our staff, and the date of the service. This delay will allow our on-site staff to have an opportunity, regardless of workload, to prepare the grave for the unveiling service.

Plans for Limited Reopening of Our Cemeteries During the time we first locked our gates throughout the day, which was nearly three months, we were able to serve our community when called upon to bury those who have passed away. Unfortunately, during the latter part of March, and through all of April and most of May, we were faced with many more burials than usual due to COVID-19’s impact on our community. We recognize how difficult the cemeteries being closed has been for th...e families and the community that we serve. Our priority has been, and continues to be, our ability to be able to service burials in a timely and efficient manner. It now also appears to us that we may be able to further relax some of the restrictions that have been in place at our cemeteries so that we could all do our part to help flatten the curve. The safety of our staff is most important to us. Therefore, commencing Sunday, June 14, and until further notice, our cemeteries will be open for visits, for limited hours, as follows: Sunday to Friday 12 PM until 7:30 PM. We are closed on all Saturdays for Shabbat and all religious Holidays. During all other times, our cemeteries’ gates will otherwise be locked and entry to visitors will not be permitted other than in the case of funerals in accordance with our existing Covid-19 protocols. For our mutual protection, our cemetery staff will not be available to meet with the public. Our building and washrooms will not be open to the public. No handwashing stations will be available for use. During these limited visiting hours, we may have security personnel who will help us to manage our visitors, keep order, and monitor the cemetery grounds. No monument unveiling services will be permitted to be held during the permitted times to visit. See more
