Speaking of hidden talents. I come from a musical family. My father is a world renowned South Indian percussionist. Since the age of 5 he learned to play the Mrdangam (barrel shaped double headed drum). Will share a sample of his music later. My sister has several vocal groups and the Autorickshaw band, which has been nominated for 3 Juno awards over the past 15 years. Hope you all enjoy the musical treat in this video of Free Play performed by my sister Suba and my broth...er-in-law Dylan. This tune has a taste of South India. I really enjoyed the live show last week at Hugh's Room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkBdeVvxANk

Another one of our biggest fears is ourselves. We constantly have that nagging voice in our heads that say we cannot achieve our goals as we do not have what it takes. You know what, each and everyone of us has what it takes all we need to do is get out of our comfort zone. Who knows there maybe a hidden talent of ours that has yet to be discovered.

Which meaning of FEAR do you live by? Once my daughter was born I chose the 2nd meaning to Face Everything And Rise. This is the reason I volunteered in our community to teach heritage classes and provide background music for all students for their prayer songs that they would perform twice a year. I performed with the students to get over my fear and to show my daughter that stage fright is nothing to be afraid of. The fact that my daughter is a South Indian Classical dancer and a member of DECA (where leadership skills are honed through case study presentations), I can safely say that stage fright is not one of the fears she will ever have. I figure she will have plenty of others things to fear so why have her copy my fears.

What is your biggest fear? For me my biggest fear was school tests, exams and especially piano recital performances. I literally had butterflies in stomach before piano performances. Exactly how the books describe it. Stay tuned to how I overcame my fear............
