Does anyone know when St. Stephen’s Rectory was built? Was it there before the Church fire in 1969?

I still have this picture that someone gave me several years ago to see if I could find the owner or owner’s family. The person thought his last name was Kettle and he knew he was from Port aux Basques. Hoping someone can recognize this wonderful soldier.

Many people on this webpage are familiar with my books on the Bay St. George area. I recently created a new website with some brief information on my books and ...where they can be purchased. However, it will be about 2 or 3 years before they are revised and reprinted. In the meantime, I have started writing a new series of articles relative to "Bay St. George History & Heritage." Every month I plan to make a new article (PDF document), authored by myself, available for free download on my website. My first article in this series is titled, "Early Settlers of McKays, NL : The Ancestors and Family of Peter and Catherine McKay." I now have a second article posted (for free download) called, "The Loss of the Nonantum and the Rescue of George Kidger." This is the story of a shipwreck that occurred in Nov. 1880 near Highlands and the kindness that the people of the community showed towards the only survivor of the wreck. I have been collecting bits of information for some time on this topic, and have recently added a lot more information in regards to what later became of George Kidger after he left Highlands. Hope you enjoy this amazing 'true story'. www.kirkraymondbutt.com See more
