A few informational notes ...... For anyone who missed the lovely Remembrance Day Service which was live-streamed earlier today via the link in an earlier post today, you can watch the recorded version of it, in its entirety, via this youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~... If you had difficulty finding a poppy box, or someone volunteering with a box out in your community, it is still possible to make a donation directly to the Branch 606 Poppy fund. A cheque or cash donation can be dropped off at the branch (please designate the donation "for the Poppy Fund", either on the cheque, or on the envelope of your donation.) If preferred, an e-transfer can be made to the branch at: [email protected] Please also indicate that your e-transfer is directed to the Poppy Fund if using this option. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And perhaps the most important note of all ...... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Did you know that you can become a member of Bay Ridges Branch 606, by applying for membership online? In addition to dropping by the branch and filling out an application specific to the branch, you can now CHOOSE the BRANCH YOU PREFER when filling out the online application. There is a drop down menu, and if you were looking to join Branch 606, on Bayly Street - you would search for the *BAY RIDGES* name in the drop down menu. (In the past, one could not select a preferred branch, this option is a fairly recent change.) Once a request for membership is made online, that request is passed over to the branch in question for approval. There are many who prefer online options for things, and this information is being shared for those who might find the online process a better fit for them. (Just DON'T FORGET to select the branch of your choice when completing the online application.) You can find the online application at this link: https://portal.legion.ca/join For those who like a more traditional method of application -- drop by the branch, and any one of our lovely Bar Stewards would be able to give you an application for membership. (Please note that it is not necessary to have either personal or familial military service to make application to join the Legion, though many still mistakenly think that is a requirement for membership.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks once again to Virginia Salsbury for her wonderful photo captures of the City of Pickering and Branch 606 Remembrance Day Service for 2020. Hope you were also able to see the "live feed" of the "real time" video this morning, at the link from this page to the City of Pickering's live feed. Lest we forget.

Find below, a small write up by the creator of this video honouring Veterans. The video was created by the daughter of Branch 606 member, Raveena, and is shared as a tribute to those who have served. You can find the video at the link below: https://youtu.be/e43ctufGUPk\... And here are the words of its creator: My name is Shajahi . I am a grade 9 student at St. John Paul II Catholic Secondary School. I have written and recorded a song about our veterans to honour and remember the women and men who served in the war and continue to do so for Canada keeping our freedom and well-being. I found that some youth now a days do not recognize their sacrifices and appreciate them enough. I am singing on behalf of many youth my age and younger in my song. I would also like to say thank you for everything our soldiers have done for us. They are the backbone to our nation. I will also have a video of some of the veterans and their messages with the song put together in few days. Thank you for listening to my song. Regards, Shajahi

I was very proud to attend the Pickering AMJ Mosque’s Muslims for Remembrance Day service yesterday. It was an outdoor social distance and safe event. Thanks for holding this service. Lest we forget.
