We’ve been hard at work getting ready for an awesome summer! It certainly won’t be what we had originally thought, but we are determined to make the best of what we have. In the next weeks we will be announcing several initiatives and opportunities that we are very excited about! Some have asked about the release of day camp guidelines, however due to the physical distancing requirements in those guidelines, unfortunately we don’t feel that we would be able to offer a qualit...y day camp experience at this time. While we don’t always succeed, our aim is to create safe spaces that show the Jesus way, the way of peace, of love and restoration. We want to see every camper, guest and staff as His unique and beloved creation. ... There are so many resources and voices available right now, take the encouragement to listen, and also to act. For over 65 summers Bayside Camp has offered programs for youth to showcase God’s love through our onsite programs. As with many areas of our lives, Covid-19 has changed that for the first time in our history. ... Despite these setbacks the mission remains, we are committed to sharing God’s love through whatever means He provides. While we wait for direction from our government about onsite programming and reopening in accordance with public health measures, our focus is on sustaining, maintaining and renewing the camp. There are many unknowns about what kind of revenue we may be able to earn over the next months. With so many unknowns, and a number of fixed costs to consider it is possible for camp to encounter a significant cash flow crisis this year. This is where we need your help. Our first priority is ensuring the sustainability of the camp. Our second priority is continuing to be an influential member of our larger community, sharing God’s love and developing servant leaders. Our third priority is maintaining and renewing the camp facility. Would you consider making a gift to Bayside? Using these gifts, At minimum we will: Ensure a positive cashflow situation Ensure the sustainability of camp until we can resume programming At maximum we will: Provide room & board for up to 10 volunteers/staff in exchange for their work Provide opportunities and resources for our Staff, LIT and CORE brackets Deep clean every building top to bottom Stain cabins, lodge and decks Create a local trail system for summer and guest group use Install roofing on the shelter for camp vehicles Repair and paint the interior of the lodge where needed Provide connection opportunities for our camper brackets Host onsite opportunities for family bubbles Plan and prepare for future opportunities So much more! May 15th, 2020 To our camp family, we hope this finds you well. Like all of of you we have been closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation and this has been an extremely difficult process for us. ... However it is the decision of myself, the Board of Directors and the staff team to suspend the planned 2020 summer camp program. This decision weighs heavy on our hearts, however the safety of our campers, guests and staff has always come first and will continue to do so. The way that camp operates as a communal living environment would make it extremely difficult and unsafe to offer a quality camp experience under the ongoing public health measures. Anything that we could currently offer would not resemble what our camp families have signed up for and therefore it would not be safe or responsible to continue as previously planned. The staff team will continue to work onsite, planning for strong a 2021 season as well as staying tuned to our government officials for any updates. We know that this will be tough on many people, however we know and trust that God is bigger than this, He will continue to use all of us wherever we are. For those currently registered for 2020, please read the additional information and complete the form below. Bayside Camp and Retreat For Immediate Release: Covid-19 Update May 4th, 2020... We appreciate your patience as we all navigate this ongoing situation. As of now we have not received any explicit instructions from the provincial government regarding camps past the May long week-end. We will aim to make another update as the government updates the state of emergency on May 19th. As well we will aim to make a final decision on the status of summer camps by June 1, 2020 at the latest. We will continue to be closed to the public for the time-being, while at the same time we plan for many different possibilities with our summer season. Recognizing the different financial situations of families in this time, please reach out if you need part, or all, of your summer registration refunded. Please pray for Bayside and camps across our nation as we navigate this situation. Like many small businesses and charities these are difficult times financially. If you are able, please consider continuing to support this ministry during this time. While it is difficult to not be able to operate currently, we recognize that what makes this place amazing is the people who attend and the people who serve. We each carry with us the ability to share God’s love wherever we are, and spread the same sense of home that we feel at Bayside.
