Baytowne Big Band 16.02.2021

At last Monday's rehearsal, we prepared a little something as a tribute to our fallen heroes for Remembrance Day. This tribute was rehearsed and performed at Utopia Hall. #Remembrance2020, #fallenheroes, #lestweforget2020 https://youtu.be/tr0Jv0nWqp8

Finally!!! After weeks and weeks of careful planning and working closely with our Essa Township and the Simoce Muskoka District Health Unit, we've been able to put into place safe protocols for being able to continue our rehearsals. Even though our numbers have dropped, we've adjusted accordingly and began to rehearse Small Combo and Little Big Band Charts, last Monday night! Everyone who showed up observed all safety protocols, wore masks, and were spatially distanced from each other. We will continue to rehearse here at Utopia Hall every Monday night with new music material. We are also hopeful that sometime in 2021, live performances will be permitted.

Today, sadly our dear friend Michael Kernen lost his battle to cancer. He was a wonderful musician, a great friend and always with a smile on his face. We all will miss you dearly. Rest In Peace my good man. Here he is taking a clarinet solo on "I'm Beginning To See The Light".

Hello Fans! Bored staying home? Miss going out to live performances? Well, after a long time, we just created our very first virtual performance from the comfort of our own homes! Members of this orchestra have put together this video as a tribute to our beloved front-line health care workers. We hope you enjoy it and please share this video many times over! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIbmUl_xSVQ

In these difficult times, we thought we'd like to check in with all our fans and see how you've been doing. Although the band has been unable to practice together, we are practicing our social distancing, flattening our own curves while trying not to speak "moistly" to others!! We'd like to share some of our past performances at the Orillia Summer Concert Series, Sticky Fingers in Barrie and most recently Utopia Hall in this video collage. Hope you enjoy it, and we'll check in again soon. Pending a lift on social gatherings, we are still tentatively booked for Canada Day Festivities at Utopia Hall and Orillia Summer concert Series in late August.
