2020 bean harvest is a wrap. Probably our best soy bean crop ever, and the price rally at harvest makes it that much sweeter.
I enjoy doing hay,,,,, but I also look forward to the day where all the hay equipment gets cleaned, and greased to be put away for winter. Till next hay season.
What a view. No I'm not taking about the view of Hay Bay, or the start of fall colors, as nice as they are. I'm referring to all those lovely green bales of feed. We were very short on feed for this winter do to low hay yeilds. Tried notilling oats in following wheat harvest. Very happy with the results. Only did 18 acres, and got 70 bales of very much needed feed for our cows for the winter.
Corn harvest 2020 is underway. Thanks Chris Jeffrey, and Scott Windover for the help.

Nothing goes to waste on farms. Our neighbour's were finished with their sweet corn and we are short on hay. So we made a deal to chop the sweet corn and feed to our cows on pasture. Saving every bale of hay we can for winter.

We have shut down the straw trailer for the season. Sold out. Thanks everyone for your business.
The cows are enjoying the cooler temps.
Thanks for believing in our genetics and quiet cattle. Brian Windover and Dave Quehl both being long time customers purchasing bulls for their progressive herds. Top Sire genetics out of Brood Cow Power.
So this is how my day went. Wife comes in while I'm in the shower to let me know one of our bulls got out and is on the road. Thanks Larry Thompson for the heads up. He was going to our heifer pasture today so we shut him in the barn so we could load him after breakfast and chores were done. I go in the barn and find him stuck in the manger. Could not get him out. Had to use a grinder and cut the chain off the stanchion to get him out. Remind me again why I love having cattle ???
So begins 2020 hay season.
The view from my office today. 2020 planting under way.
Our fall calves are sorted and headed to the sale tomorrow.
