AGENCY CLOSURE It is with great regret that Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Georgian Triangle will be closing its doors after 50 years serving children and youth in the community. Throughout these years, dedicated volunteer mentors have provided life-changing mentoring relationships to hundreds of children and youth over the decades. We are ever so grateful for all the community support, all the partners we have worked with, all of our schools, and other community members who... have worked with us. All of these partnerships made our program thrive and be strong and we are thankful for the continued support over the last 50 years. Over the past few years, there has been a significant deterioration in the financial situation of the agency due to fundraising challenges. The problem is that revenue from fundraising events has not kept up with the costs to run our programs. The demand for our services from the community has far exceeded our financial capacity to provide them. Over the past months the Board of Directors has made significant effort to access critical investment from the public sector, private sector, and the community in order to keep the agencys doors open. While everyone recognized the important role that mentorship plays in the community, unfortunately these efforts did not lead to the funds necessary to sustain services. We are proud of the impact we have had on young people in the Georgian Triangle. Serving as role models, our mentors taught by example the importance of volunteering and giving back, of staying in school, and of forming healthy relationships with family members and peers. Each time we match a child with a mentor or introduce a group of children to a mentoring program we start something incredible a life-changing relationship. With the support of other community partners, we are pleased that many of our families will continue to access valuable supports that will help to ensure all young people have the opportunity to thrive. Tonight at Connaught Public school from 630-730 October 14th-Big Gym Jam will not run due to Thanksgiving Monday October 21st-Big Gym Jam will not run due to election polls ... October 28th- Big Gym Jam will continue to run it's regular hours, 630-730 every Monday at St. Noel.

Our after school programs are starting up next week! Big Gym Jam will run at St. Noel Chabanel on Monday's from 6:30-7:30pm starting Sept 30th 2019 and Boys Club will run at Connaught Public School on Tuesday's from 6:30-7:30pm starting October 1st 2019. Group registration forms are required for any youth wanting to participate in these groups but we will have them on site ready to be filled out when you/your child arrive! Hope to see you there!
