Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria 23.11.2020

Peninsula Co-op has been a wonderful partner to Big Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria, supporting our mentoring programs across the Capital Regional District and in the Comox Valley. They are community-focused and willing to work with local non-profit organizations to find solutions that keep everyone moving forward. Peninsula Co-op plays an integral role in providing hundreds of young people across Vancouver Island with a much needed adult in their life - someone who can ignite their potential and help them reach their goals. For most of these children, life has been filled with loss, trauma and adversity. Thanks to Peninsula Co-op's financial support, time spent with their mentor now means they have time to laugh again, time to be a kid again, and time to plan for the future.

Are you a youth mentor or mentee interested in politics? Our annual Youth in Office event is going #virtual. Our National Youth Mentoring Advisory Council (NYMAC) is organizing conversations with Members of Parliament and Senators to discuss issues impacting youth. "Big Banter - A Canadian Youth-led Conversation" is an event where youth are invited to join in conversation with politicians at the federal level. Our NYMAC representatives will facilitate the conversation. Get your questions answered! Visit bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/event/youth-in-office-2020/ to learn more and to register to attend. #YouthInOffice #BiggerTogether #CdnPoli #Mentoring

Meet Janine and Shayden, who have been matched for over a year in our Community Mentoring Program! "Shayden and I have made the best of the summer and fall, spending lots of time outside together and continuing to develop our friendship. From kayaking along the Inner Harbour to shooting a spooky Halloween movie with her huge collection of stuffies, we've had a fantastic time being goofy and trying new things. I love how creative and kind Shayden is. She is such a peacefu...l soul! It's been so fun to get to know her and explore our creative sides together. I'm excited for what the next year of our friendship has in store!" -Janine #Mentor #Volunteer #BBBS #Victoria See more

Developmental relationships are close connections through which young people discover who they are, cultivate abilities to shape their own lives, and learn how to engage with and contribute to the world around them. @searchinstitute Our goal is that every child and youth in our programs forms a developmental relationship with their mentor. To learn more about our programs, or how you can help, please visit the link in our bio. #DevelopmentalRelationship #Mentor #BBBS #Volunteer #Victoria

It’s #MeetTheTeamMonday! Meet Ashley, one of the Mentoring Coordinators at #BBBSV, and the Marketing and Communications Assistant! Ashley's favourite part about working at BBBSV is being part of an organization that has a meaningful impact on the community!! Fun Fact: Ashley once danced in a parade at Disneyland.
