It is so sad that we are subject to such arbitrary censorship at the hands of Big Tech. Google has decided that Kwakiutl (the name of a group of people on the northern part of Vancouver Island) is a recreational drug and bans its use in advertising. How is it that a company like Google can't determine the correct meaning of the word Kwakiutl? Isn't this the place where other people go to look up exactly this type of thing? In addition Facebook has permanently banned Bud Rub from advertising simply because we have hemp seed oil in our product. Amazon, at a whim and without evidence or reason, has pulled our product repeatedly. No government seems at all interested in holding them to account for these arbitrary and punitive measures taken against small business.

It is a shame that the people running Facebook are unenlightened and authoritarian. Contrary to the laws of several nations on this planet that Facebook operates, they have decided hemp is an illegal, dangerous drug and can not be promoted on their website. Attorney David Holland said it well. The Facebook dilemma is extremely troubling on several levels: Not only is the exchange of legal goods and services being arbitrarily stifled, but the exchange of ideas in today’s virtual public square is being censored by machines where algorithms, not people, are determining what is appropriate speech. Lately I've been a bit starved for sunshine, warmth, blossoms. This picture cheers me a bit. Rosemary is one of our ingredients and it has a long history as both a culinary and medicinal herb. Some of the earliest mentions of this plant date back thousands of years. One of the things I like the most about working in the garden is catching a whiff of this plant's wonderful fragrance. Cheering and uplifting like the sunshine I'm currently pining for in this, usually, grey and wet habitat.
