Our own Joe Wiebe - Thirsty Writer dropped by the The Mustard Seed Street Church Food Bank this morning to visit with CBC Victoria's Gregor Craigie and Jason D'...Souza on the air -- sipping coffee instead of beer as it was 7:20am, after all. Joe donated two tickets to Lift Off! which will open #VBW2018 on Saturday, March 2, and an autographed copy of his book, Craft Beer Revolution, as an incentive for donating $100 to CBC's annual Food Bank Day fundraising drive. Today, the Sooke Brewing Company opens its doors, becoming the 2nd brewery in Sooke (along with Sooke Oceanside Brewery). It is BC's 144th craft brewery, the 23rd new one to open here in 2017. That's a new record, but we ain't done yet -- a few more breweries still hope to open before December 31 (including a third in Sooke: Bad Dog Brewing Company!) Congratulations to Yari, John and everyone else at Sooke Brewing. It's been a long time coming. Viva la Revolution!

Good news for farm-based breweries in BC like Crannóg Ales and Persephone Brewing Company!

It's fresh hop season in British Columbia! Here's a great blog by Matt Carter for the BC Ale Trail where he gets busy down on the farm picking hops and brewing beer at Longwood Brewery in Nanaimo. Can't wait to taste the results in a few weeks!
