The bicycle can be a tool in the fight for equity. The BCCC is working towards this goal. At our last AGM we elected three new women board members, one of them a woman of colour. Although we still have some way to go to reflect the population of BC, we are trying. If you'd like to join us in our work, please contact us. This article is about one person who has made a difference in their city and has some suggestion as to how we can help create more equity in our communities. https://www.bicycling.com//cycling-ally-courtney-williams/

Tomorrow, January 15, 2021, is National Pothole Day in the UK, US...and now BC! Along with BikeMaps.org, we want you to log potholes and other hazards on your ride for one month - we'll share the data with local governments, and hopefully encourage quick fixes for these dangerous cycling hazards. Use BikeMaps.org on the web or via mobile app - log the pothole, take a pic, and post on social media with the tag #potholesbc. ... http://bccc.bc.ca//national-pothole-day-kicks-off-campaign

First, to explain the graphic connected to this post, please read the full explanation in the linked blog entry on our website (3-min read). Second, a clarification - this is not a donation appeal. This is a request for sponsorship, and the promise of a promotional benefit to YOU. Lastly, it’s also about an investment - the kind of investment we wish the provincial government would make, one that is about better, safer cycling. It's about an investment in the promise of activ...e transportation. And it's about an investment in the possibilities of #CleanBC. The bottom line - we’re seeking 500 people like you to put $100 of your hard-earned money towards the publication of the next edition of Bike Sense. And we will credit you personally. Please read the post. Think about it. And if not today, the last day of 2020, consider this as something meaningful you can do - and your first gift to yourself and your community - for 2021. Happy New Year! http://bccc.bc.ca//the-big-ask-for-bike-sense-investing-in

Here is another great example of enforcement of minimum passing distances. As the article states, they also will prosecute based on videos submitted by the public as well. We've heard and read far too many times that these laws are unenforceable, yet we are seeing more examples of jurisdictions making the safety of cyclists a priority and enforcing these laws. With our new government, we will be further pursuing or goal of a safe passing a reality in BC. https://www.cyclescheme.co.uk//police-clamp-down-on-close-
