Statement from the Freestyle BC Board of Directors: "Freestyle BC is honored and ecstatic to announce Josh Dueck being appointed Team Canada’s Chef de Mission at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. From an early age, Josh’s trajectory in sport has been toward greatness, and we couldn’t be happier to align with and support our executive director as he embarks on his journey to Beijing.... His start in freestyle skiing at Kimberley Alpine resort, and as a member of the BC Mogul team, sparked a passion for winter sport. Following a life altering accident while coaching and inspiring athletes in 2004, Josh went on to conquer the world in a sit-ski, garnering podium performances at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Paralympics. Following his gold medal race in the super combined at Sochi, pulled back from competitive sport to start a familyaccording to Josh, his greatest prize. Since then, Josh has become the first sit-skier to perform a backflip, received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award, named to the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame. Dueck continues to climb. Josh leads from a place of passion in pursuit of excellence. It’s these traits, embodying the power of sport, Team Canada finds valuable for his role as chef de mission. At Freestyle BC, we are truly grateful for those attributes and the unrelenting effort he pours into our organization and creating opportunities for athletes to follow their passion in sport.. It is with great pride we support Josh in his responsibilities to Team Canada. Josh remains exceedingly committed to Freestyle BC and together we will steepen our trajectory toward greatness." https://freestylebc.ski//josh-dueck-named-canadas-chef-de/

Congratulations to our Executive Director and Paralympic champion Josh Dueck for being named Canada's chef de mission for the 2022 Beijing Games "When I got the call with the news that I was named to lead the Canadian Paralympic Team my mind started to dance with possibility," Dueck said. "To be a champion for sport, friend and mentor to the athletes and part of the support team for Canada at the Paralympic Games is an incredible privilege. There is a great sense of ho...nour and duty that comes with this storied role, and I look forward to learning from our history and building on this legacy with our teams." We would like to congratulate long-time BC Mogul Team Member Jackson Parsons on an outstanding career as he retires from mogul skiing. Jackson has been an integral part of the team for over 3 years and leaves big shoes to fill. His work ethic was unparalleled and he produced the highest training volume on the team during his stint with the program. He was rewarded for his efforts by making huge improvements over the years. Adding a back full & cork 1080 to his bag of tricks w...ere a few of many highlights and it was also a rewarding process for Jackson to elevate his level of consistency in performances. He was a superb teammate with a ton of passion for the sport and even though he's moving on to pursue other endeavors, he still carries that passion and looks forward to staying involved in the Freestyle community for years to come! We can't wait to see what Jackson and his sense of adventure have in store for him! : @cjhurry1 See more

Koleton Phipps (aka Gritty) is moving on from his competitive career following a 4 year stint with the BC Mogul Team. Looking back on Koleton’s career, there are many amazing benchmarks to be proud of. Such as his 12th place finish in the Calgary Noram, selection to the Canadian World Jr’s team in Sweden 2018, plus many more. Koleton filled a leadership role for our team as a veteran member for many years and pushed himself and his teammates by always being willing to learn a...nd go the extra mile for the sake of progression and improvement. Particularly impressive, was Koleton through his shoulder rehab following an injury in 2019. The process was a massive challenge but Koleton embraced it head on and the diligence he displayed in the path to a full recovery was extremely commendable. We’re going to miss him and the positivity he brought to our team environment but we wish him the best as he moves on from his competitive career. We’re sure his passion for the sport will keep him involved for years to come and can’t wait to see what’s next! : Chad Hurry See more

Another one of our athletes, Kassidy Todd is retiring from the BC Mogul Team after 5 seasons and with by far and away her best season to date. Qualifying for finals at almost every Noram and several top 10’s. Huge benchmarks for a provincial team athlete - she finished up as one of the top ranked provincial women in the country. Kass faced many hurdles in her journey and her resilience and determination in overcoming those challenges are just a part of what made Kass an outst...anding athlete. She was also a great role-model to our younger athletes by constantly displaying a strong work ethic and positive attitude. We’re going to miss Kass a great deal moving forwards but she’s left a lasting impact on her teammates, coaches and the program as a whole. We know she’ll find success in whatever she decides to do following her competitive career and we wish her the best of luck! : Chad Hurry See more

We are sad to announce that Alex Thucydides will be retiring from the BC Park & Pipe team after two great seasons. Alex has been one of the most dedicated and hardest working athletes on the team, and the coaches have always valued his approach to training. His sense of humour and creativity with skiing helped create a fun environment for the whole team. We wish Alex the best of luck in his first year of university at UBC! We will miss you!
