2020 can kiss my ass. Rest in Power Notorious RBG An inspiration to all women and men around the world. An absolute force and guiding light. May God bless her. Please register to #vote ... @mgarber writes on the cultural legacy of #RBG for @theatlantic They talked about Ginsburg as a trailblazer for women’s rights and minority rights. They talked about her legacyand the acute fragility of progress. They talked about what she’d meant to them, personally. Many of their messages were soaring and searing and eloquent. But what trended on Twitter, as people learned of the loss, was something much more plaintive, and much more visceral: No. No. No. Reposted from @arshraziuddin #ruthbaderginsburg #rbg #notoriousrbg #feminism #feminist #prochoice #idissent #womensrights #equality #equalrights See more

A common misconception is you go and see a therapist for "advice". Unfortunately, this isn't the case and actually I would caution anyone who has received "advice" from a counsellor or therapist that this is not usually a sign of productive therapy. Therapy is an internal process. It is about connecting with how you feel, reflecting on your emotions, thoughts and behaviour as they arise, making links with your past and developing self-awareness. Sometimes this process ...facilitates change, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes we realise change has happened but it doesn't look like what we expected. It is a slow process. It takes time, being gentle with yourself, consistency and regularity. Like the gym, you won't see results overnight, you have to put the work in. You may visit the same stuck points many times before they become unstuck. You often can't see how far you've got to go, but after a while you can look back and see how far you've come. It can be painful and difficult. Some sessions might feel really productive, others might not feel productive at all. Things can feel worse before they feel better. Like cleaning out your closet, you have to start by taking everything out, and when it's all over the floor you might think, why did I start this?? But then you slowly start to put everything back neatly, and finally when it's done you're glad you did it, even if it was hard. As a therapist, it's my job to hold the space and help facilitate the process to happen and I'm honoured to do so for my clients who show up every day to be vulnerable and connect with their pain. But I'm not there to tell them what to do or give them my personal advice. I can prescribe treatment plans, which might take the form of exercises, but like a personal trainer, I can't lift the weights myself, that's up to the client. Just like the gym, before signing up for therapy, ask yourself, why am I doing this? Is it the right time? Am I prepared to commit to this process? Therapy isn't advice, it isn't a magic wand, it isn't a quick fix, it isn't an easy solution. #mentalhealth #therapy #sextherapy #sextherapist #relationshiptherapy #counselling See more
