Happening now: Join John Horgan and the new BC NDP MLAs for their official swearing-in. In electing this exceptional group of New Democrats, British Columbians gave us their trust to help them through the pandemic and lead BC's recovery. We'll always keep working for you.
Carole’s a pretty incredible human being and she deserves every word of praise you gave to her on her retirement. But, don’t take our word for it...take yours!
Wishing everyone celebrating today a happy Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas! Diwali is a time to celebrate the triumph of hope over despair and good over evil. And ...as we mark Bandi Chhor Divas, we remember the importance of freedom in our daily lives. This year, I urge families to celebrate and choose virtual gatherings instead of joining people we don't live with. While celebrations look different this year, it will be no less special for the diverse and vibrant communities that make our province a stronger, better place to call home. http://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2020PREM0095-001936
Today, on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honour those who have lost their lives or been targeted by acts of transphobic violence, harassment and margina...lization. Our BC NDP government was the first to raise the transgender flag at the legislature and we fly it proudly once again in 2020. While we can't gather together like this event last year, we will not waver in our commitment to make BC a place that's safe and truly inclusive for everyone. http://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2020FIN0061-001948 ( from November 2019) Spencer Chandra Herbert MLA, Vancouver-West End BC NDP, Mitzi Dean, Jennifer Rice, Re-elect Katrina Chen for Burnaby-Lougheed, Lisa Beare, Rob Fleming, Ronna-Rae Leonard, Courtenay-Comox, Mike Farnworth for Port Coquitlam, George Heyman, George Chow, Judy Darcy
Today Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister Adrian Dix announced new province-wide regulations to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in BC and protect those most at risk. See the full list here.
This is a critical time: the second wave of COVID-19 is here. We all need to act now to make sure we can keep our business, hospitals, and schools open. People in BC know what to do and how to support others in our communities. Let's stand together again. www.gov.bc.ca/covid
The BC Liberals raided ICBC to fund tax cuts for the rich. We nixed legal costs and ended huge payouts to big law firms. We lowered rates by 20%, saving people an average of $400. If re-elected, any profits from ICBC during the pandemic will go directly back to drivers.
We're tremendously grateful to Carole James and all the work she's done for British Columbians during her 30 years in politics and we know many of you are, too. Will you join us in sending Carole a thank you on her retirement? https://bcndp.ca/thank-carole
They were young and old. They grew up in larger cities, and smaller ones. They had families, friends and loved ones. They were Canadians, and over five long wars, 116,000 of them lost their lives fighting for our country. Today we honour their sacrifice. Lest we forget.
Effective immediately, John Horgan & the BC NDP have frozen rent until July 2021 & they'll extend it to the end of 2021 once Cabinet is sworn in. If you support a rent freeze, add your name: bcndp.ca/rent-freeze
