Chebaba is ready for adoption! This goofy boy absolutely adores people and when given the chance will just melt into your lap despite his big size. Baba enjoys playing with toys, carrying them around and going on walks, but his favorite thing to do is cuddle up with people giving hugs and kisses. Pumpkin and Cinnamon were two kittens found under a bush outside of our shelter. Staff members heard crying and found them alone, cold without a mother. They stayed in foster care until old enough to be adopted and here is how they are doing with their adopted mom and cat sister: "Stella (resident cat) is getting used to them and they adore Stella and follow her every move. There has been some hissing and cat communication going on that I don’t understand but no fights so I... think they will be best of friends soon. The kittens play themselves out and then come to me for cuddles. Sometimes they decide to crawl up my jean unexpectedly so I’m getting used to the feel of 16 little pins in my legs at once which they are slowly learning to curtail. Thanks for giving me the honour of being their mom. The foster home did a great job as they settled in here fast and were so loving and chill. I could tell they were loved during their most impressionable time."

We received a heartwarming adoption update on Stanley (now Nibbles) who was adopted in September: "Stanley (Now Nibbles - my son’s given him a new name) is doing well. We absolutely adore him. He loves cuddling with us, playing with the house plants, and watching humming birds/squirrels through the window. He tried to escape when we cracked the window open so we ended up installing screens. Thanks for checking in, he is the best for sure."

We were so excited to receive this update on Watson, who was such a sweet boy that was adopted from us back in March last year. "To all the staff at the Abbotsford BC SPCA, As 2020 came to a much needed close, my husband and I reflected on the difficult year and on the top of the 'positive list' was adopting Watson on March 28th from your branch. We are forever grateful for your staff picking our application to adopt Watson. He is our first pet together, our only son, and h...e has brought much needed warmth, joy and connection for us during a challenging year. Words fall short when trying to express how grateful I am to have been chosen to adopt Watson as he sincerely warmed our hearts on the darkest of days with his soft purrs and hugs. Thank you so much for choosing us to adopt, for all that you do to keep the animals safe and alive and for working through a pandemic. Wishing you and yours a healthy, happier and peaceful new year! *Update on Watson* he has turned into a lovely, snuggly, lap loving, king of napping buddy, when at first we didn't think that was possible. His favourite show is watching the cute birdies eat from the bird feeder and he continues to act as Executive Assistant for my home office. He has learned to chirp at his parents, and needs to tone down the sass. Also, he only tackled the Christmas tree down once and we learned that investing in shatter proof ornaments and a fake tree was a smart move for Christmas. Otherwise, he's a good boy. Attached are photos of his holiday season Thanks again and take care!"

Gabrielle the puppy was transferred down from BC SPCA Williams Lake & District Branch and adopted to a wonderful family where she has a chihuahua brother to sleep, play and grow up with! "We just wanted to give you a little update on Gabrielle (Gabby). We are so thrilled that you gave us the opportunity to adopt this sweet & beautiful little girl. She is absolutely incredible and a perfect fit to our family. Percy fell in love with her immediately but it took some time for ...her reciprocate. Her personality is really shining through now as the funniest drama queen and princess. She’s gotten 2 sets of shots with our vet, made herself at home the moment she walked into the house and brings more love to our family every single day! She is eating both soft & hard food and actually helping Percy eat better I think they are competing on who can eat faster! Their play time is absolutely incredible too and he is extremely protective of her (especially around other dogs). We go on regular walks when it is not raining but keep her on a short leash as she likes to wander and is very inquisitive. Her first grooming visit will be on December 30th and we expect to start training class in January. We now have the most incredible fur babies for life!" Happy Holidays!

We have another adoption update to share! We love hearing how your pet is doing after adopting, it warms our hearts. Here is how Milo (now Ziggy) is in his new home: "Ziggy is doing great! He is such a cuddle bug and loves to sleep on your lap. Very social and out going cat. I am so glad I chose him! He was apparently in foster from what I read prior to adoption, but who ever fostered him did an amazing job! He was already litter trained, gentle with hands and already knew not to attack them and super social. He also loves his belly rubs and will usually sleep upside down or roll on his back for belly rubs when you pet him. He loves it when we bring him outside with his pooch sister on his retractable leash. Thanks so much for selecting me to adopt him!"

Adoption update on Boomer! This wonderfully silly dog was transferred to our shelter from BC SPCA North Cariboo District Branch. Here is what his adopted dad shared with us: "Boomer and I are having a great weekend! When he's not gnawing hands he just wants to be close. He sat in my lap for much of the drive. He wants to see over the front dash and it's hilarious when he tries from his seat. We shared an apple too. He's super great on walks and I think running will be a breeze. We hiked through Goldstream this morning and he saw salmon and many birds and he was totally cool. He was not cool meeting a big puppy this morning but most dogs he can walk past easily. He gets lots of love wherever he goes (or fear). He loves the bakery where I work and gets spoiled."

Adoption update on the girls - recently adopted from our branch! Here is what their new family has to say: "As promised, here are a few photos of the girls I adopted a couple weeks ago. They are coming around but still shy.... Definitely warming up with the help of treats, which they take very gently from my hand. They’re still in their own cage for now, just started to do introductions slowly to not overwhelm both sets, but I think they’ll be cuddle sisters soon. I hope you don’t mind but I’ve changed their names... Parsnip and Pumpkin to go along with my Peach and Plum." #AdoptDontShop

Clifford was transferred to our shelter from the BC SPCA North Peace Branch - Fort St. John. At our shelter he met another kitten in our care named Cruz that was the last kitten out of his litter waiting for his forever home. The two became instant friends so we decided to find them a home together! Here is an update from Clifford and Cruz's family: "Just wanted to send an update and some pics of the boys now that they've settled in here. We're absolutely in love with them both. They are so funny and have so much personality! Cruz is definitely the big brother that takes care of Cliff, he even handles Cliff's bathing haha. Clifford is so little and sweet, he will snuggle with anyone who is willing! Thanks for bringing these sweet boys into our lives. We couldn't imagine a day without them."

Adopting one cat won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one cat. Do you have the time and patience to give a shy cat a quiet, calm and loving home? It sure is rewarding building a bond with a nervous kitty who just needs a special person to slowly earn their trust. Right now Hazel feels like her world is pretty scary, but we know with the right home she will start to feel safer each day. To read more about Hazel and to fill out an application please visit her adoption page here: https://adopt.spca.bc.ca/pets/131726
