This little guy might need to work on his hide & seek game - but he did find a wonderful new family! They sent us the following update: "Just wanted to thank you for connecting our family with Hunter last week. The kids recently saw a Charlie Chaplin movie and wanted to rename him Charlie because of his little moustache. He doesn’t seem to mind. He’s still living in the basement while we work on getting our senior cat used to him, but he’s getting lots of love and has a nice warm room to curl up in at night."

In order to protect our staff, volunteers and members of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become necessary for us to significantly restrict public access to our SPCA shelters, effective immediately. Except for appointments for adoptions and emergency surrenders, there will be no public access to SPCA facilities. However, staff and volunteers will continue to be on site caring for the animals, and to provide emergency treatment and on-going care for animals who come into our custody through cruelty investigations. We have another happy tail to brighten your day! Dylan was a scared kitten that had gotten hurt and was having seizures when he was brought into the care of the BC SPCA. After spending a few weeks with our foster volunteer, he is now in his "furever home." We just received a wonderful update from his new family: "I named him Braylon which means a gift from God. It seems that he looks scared and awkward a bit when he first came to my place, but now he let me touch and even pi...ck him up. Bray is very playful, more so than any other cats I have ever seen, and has an incredible jumping skill! I am still trying to gain his trust and finally today he purred and snuggled up to me. And I love how active and affectionate he becomes especially in the late night and early morning hours. Thank you so much for giving me a great opportunity to adopt him, and I am very glad to have him as my new family member." See more

Time for an amazing update. Grab a cup of tea or coffee & settle in for this one: Champaign was living her life outside as a stray in William’s Lake when she wound up pregnant! She must have sensed her babies were about to arrive because she went out of her way to make herself known to a nearby house who was concerned for her and let her come inside their home. After her three kittens were born, the family was then brought in to receive the best possible care. After receiv...Continue reading

Tip Tuesday Coyote sightings are common in both rural and urban communities across B.C. Just like dogs, coyotes are smart, playful and social. But their role in the ecosystem as scavengers and rodent predators can present dangers for cats and small dogs. Learn more: https://spca.bc.ca/news/keep-pets-safe-coyotes/... #TipTuesday

Happy Tails : Jasper! We received a wonderful update from Jasper (formerly Lyle), who is now well settled in his #fureverhome. "He spends the day following us around, very playful. When we sit down to rest, read, or watch TV or internet, he is the first one to accommodate himself on our laps. He loves to cuddle which is amazing because we do too! At the window of my son’s room, he appreciates the outside and gets some sun. He also loves his new toy and his bathroom mann...ers are fantastic! No accidents at all! No scratching furnitures (only his scratching pole). He has already gained some weight and had his last dose of vaccine done. We could not be happier! His presence in our lives brought some kind of more unity to our family; now we spend time just being around him as a family." Thank you for choosing to adopt! It's great to hear Jasper is comfortable and happy in his new home! We hope your family and Jasper will continue to have lots of cuddle time and beautiful family moments together.

Cat fosters needed! We are opening up intake for foster volunteers for the BC SPCA Tri-Cities branch. Please note that we are currently seeking volunteers who have the time and resources to work with mom cats and their litters. This is usually an 8 week commitment, but can sometimes be for much longer. Please do not apply for this role if you have upcoming summer vacation plans. Often fostering requires a lot of work, time, and commitment. Animals may need to be transported ...back and forth to the shelter for weekly checkups, and may require vet exams on short notice. All supplies will be provided to you throughout the fostering period. We are so appreciative of your time and help with providing the mother cats and their kittens with the care that they require. We often have adopters interested in this type of opportunity so they can find someone to adopt, but those interested need to know that not all foster animals may be available for adoption. We are also in need of fosters who can make a long-term commitment to the program. Fostering for us can be fun and rewarding and is a labour of love! You will play a key role in the animal's pathway to their forever home. If you are interested in fostering and can help with this, please apply with the subject line "Application to Foster for Tri-Cities" to [email protected] and we will provide you with further information. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you!
