Mice, mice, everywhere! The Vancouver BC SPCA shelter has several friendly young mice looking for homes! Mice make excellent companions. They are smart and gentle, not to mention entertaining to watch and hang out with. They each have their own unique personality and are fun to get to know. Happy Adoption Day to Falafel (now Ollie)! This handsome boy came in as a stray looking quite thin and with no ID. He's now found a wonderful new home where he'll be pampered and loved. Don't forget to have your feline friends microchipped or tattooed so that if they become lost we can swiftly reunite them home!

The Vancouver shelter is currently seeking donations of large to extra-large dog carriers. Our current stock of them is dwindling! If you have a carrier you are no longer using, but that still works and has all it's parts, we would be grateful if you thought of us. The Vancouver shelter is still closed to the public for general walk-ins, but we have staff here 7 days a week. You can feel free to drop off your items at our contactless drop-off bin outside the front door during staffed hours: 10-5 on weekdays, and 10-4 on weekends. Today's Champion for the Animals is Elle! She came in over the weekend to donate her birthday money to the animals. And as always, office pup Biggie was there to pose alongside her! Thank you Elle!

We received an adoption update from Boone (known to us back then as Theo). "We have had the BEST summer with Boone! He's really settled into the North Van life, and LOVES our trips to Tofino and runs in the forest in Lynn Valley with his bestie Lu. I've attached some pics for y'all. Thank you all so much for everything!" Thank you, Brenon, for adopting a shelter animal, and providing him with such a wonderful life!

Shout out to Jenny and Mark of Mirage Hair Salon in Mount Pleasant for collecting donations on behalf of the SPCA. Jenny requires clients wear a mask while they're in the salon, and if they've forgotten theirs, she provides one to them in exchange for a donation to the BC SPCA. Jenny and her salon collected $316.25 for the animals! We thank you! What are you thankful for this year? We work at the shelter 365 days a year - the animals don't take holidays, and neither do we! Thankfully, Tap & Barrel Olympic Village stopped by over the weekend to deliver meals for our staff who were working over Thanksgiving. We are so very grateful! They also brought us some wagons for our puppies! Right now our dogs are in isolation, which means we can't take them out on walks. But with the wagons, we can safely take them out and get them used to the sights and sounds of the city, while keeping the puppies and the community safe. Thank you Tap & Barrel!!

Happy adoption day Shyla! Sweet senior Shyla, with the serious face but a sugary heart, has been in our care for 76 days before being adopted! Shyla had some medical issues that had been left untreated for some time, and she was very sensitive about being touched on her feet and face. We knew we would need a very special home for her, that would listen to her boundaries, and work with her to gain her trust. It took some time, but we found a great match for Shyla! Her new fa...mily bonded with her immediately, and our staff were overjoyed to see Shyla opening up to them. We are so excited to see her going off into a loving and caring environment. Please join our staff and volunteers in wishing Shyla a lovely retirement!

The Vancouver shelter had a visit earlier this week from Rosie and Olive! These two young ladies collected toys and supplies for the animals in our care. Thank you for your compassion!

Adoption update! Bonded mother-and-daughter duo Darla and Dottie went off to their new home this week. These girls took no time at all to settle in! "They’re super playful, friendly and just the sweetest cats we could have hoped for. We’re so happy to have them!"

With people spending more time at home, we're wondering if you've noticed any strange habits from your pets. We've received an adoption update from Kevin and his family, and he has been getting up to all kinds of shenanigans! "As soon as his wee leg was healed he took ownership of the house! He LOVES fish based food, catching bugs at night on HIS secure patio, and he LOVES to play with his toys. Kevin is always up for adventures and is VERY curious. Kevin is going to grow up... to be a sweet, loving cat who will always keep us on our toes. Thank you for Kevin, he is a puuuurfect fit for us! Oh, he loves to be vacuumed too! And egg whites, we've never had a cat quite like Kev!" Our staff delighted in seeing the photos of Kevin in his new home. What silly habits have your cats gotten up to? Share your stories with us!

High Paws go out to Eleanor and Quinn! These enterprising youngsters started a sticker club to raise funds for the SPCA - they also write and send out newsletters to friends and families about what they can do to help. She comes in several times a week to work with our dogs and help out wherever we need help. As promised....meet Aphrodite and Hades. These 9 week old little girls are bonded so need to be adopted together. They have been in foster since they were born and their foster family did an amazing job socializing them. Our rabbits are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered prior to adoption! Vancouver SPCA has gone hopping mad! We currently have 8 rabbits available for adoption. All are very social. I will feature bunnies for adoption for the rest of the week so stay tuned. Puck was neutered yesterday and has fallen for his panda friend. It was love at first site. Pucks panda will go him with him when he is adopted!
