We are saddened to hear of the passing of Rowing Canada teammate, Kathleen Heddle. Kathleen was inducted into our Hall as an Athlete in 2003 and Team Member of the 1992 Canadian Olympic Rowing Teams in 1994. She was without a doubt one of Canada’s greatest rowers and most decorated Olympians. We were always impressed not only by her incredible athletic ability, but her calm strength in the most stressful of situations. She will be greatly missed by the entire BC Sports Hall of Fame family.

Welcome back to another episode of From the Vault! Today we have Museum Curator Jason Beck sharing the story behind Lyall Swaney's helmet. This was the helmet he wore during his very first year with the Canucks for the 1945-46 team. The helmet provided little support but Lyall Swaney was one of the few players who wore one. Did you find today's artifact interesting? See you all next week for episode 7, you don’t want to miss out!

This Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to become a Raven through the 100 Ravens Campaign. The 100 Ravens represent transformative individuals who believe in the power behind sport and storytelling. Each contribution supports us in bringing the Indigenous Sports Gallery closer to Indigenous youth and communities across BC. You will help us bring programming centered around the gallery to life. We are nearing completion of three lesson plans for learners in Grades 4 to 7 inspir...ed by the Indigenous Sport Gallery. These first three plans focus on Terry Fox, the discovery of cultural identity, holistic well-being, and goal setting. Our hope is to inspire youth to explore their identity and make their dreams a reality. We are looking for 100 Individuals at $500 each to contribute. To learn more and donate, please visit: bcsportshall.com/ravens We appreciate your generous support

Today, we remember all those who have served our country and the honoured members and featured athletes at the BC Sports Hall of Fame who are veterans. Joe Benoit, Ralph Henderson, William Lore, Robert Powell, Edward 'Cardy' Cardinal, Percy Williams, George 'Porky' Andrews, Paul Rowe and Muzz and Lynn Patrick are among the many who we will never forget.... Joe Benoit, a member of the 1938-39 Trail Smoke Eaters inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 1976, put his promising hockey career with the Montréal Canadiens on hold to join the armed forces at the age of 27. He's also believed to be the first Métis to play in the NHL. Read more about Joe's amazing career and life in this article from Postmedia's Bruce McCurdy. https://edmontonjournal.com//remembering-st-alberts-own-jo
