BC Wine Review 20.03.2021

2014 Pinot Noir Reserve from @liquiditywines in OK Falls BC. A uniquely beautiful scent of black cherry and a very light cocoa. The palate starts subtle and evolves to be quite complex; black cherry then sweet kirsch cherry leading to a lightly tart pomegranite and finishing with a lingering spiced plum. Amazing. Check the colour, this now 7 year old Pinot is drinking perfectly today. 91+pts. . Alison Moyes, Liquidity Winemaker handed me this bottle personally after a tasting. If you have a moment to speak with her please take the time, impressive lady. . #pinotnoir #buybcwine #okanagan #OkFalls #redwine #redwinelover #bcwinereview #redwinelover

2014 Spadefoot Toad Syrah from @summerhillwine in Kelowna BC, with the grapes from Oliver. This is simply incredible and while $50 from the winery we believe it sits in heady company of the best Syrah in Canada. Introduced to us by @carlswineclub in one of their packs we are truly Blown Away by this sleeper of a wine. The tasting notes from the winery: . "... deliciously ripe aromas of blackberry, raspberry and cherry kirsch which mingles with alluring notes of vanilla, sweet... tobacco, leather and clove. On the palate, delight in flavours of black cherry, boysenberry, white pepper and a hint of black olive.... Tannins are firm but round, acidity is bright and palate cleansing, and finish is long" . That is quite a mouthful and so is this wine. 94 pts and climbing. . . #buybcwine #okanagan #redwine #redwinelover #bcwine #bcwinereview #oliverbc #syrah #bestsyrah #okanaganwine See more

Thought we would do something a little different today and take 3 Cabernet Sauvignon, $29, $29 and $35 respectively and do some side by side Two from BC framed by a Canada only export from the Sonoma Valley. . We started with the 2016 Inniskillen and were quite happy, a melody of dark berries on the nose, definite blackberry and cedar on the palette followed by a lingering blueberry and a subtle tobacco aftertaste. Now, I must admit tobacco can either turn me on or off a wi...ne, works here and was not over-powering, medium to long finish. . Next the 2017 Frei Brothers from Sonoma Valley, oh yes, California Cool all the way and hot in presence; cassis, dried blackberry, dusty rock and a hard to describe ‘September dry berry’ scent on the nose, the palette is near-cooked blackberry, black cherry, vanilla and I couldn’t shake a slight aftertaste of pencil shavings, could have been my palette, others did not notice. Fine tannins and a long finish. . Finally the 2017 Nk'Mip Cellars Qwam Qwmt. You know that moment you arrive on home soil and your body relaxes? This smells like home to me, black cherry, blackberry and Osoyoos dust on the nose, a noticeably heavier body of ripe black and red fruits, a beautifully full middle of black cherry pie with a hint of vanilla plus fine tannins that go on for days. The sense of terroir is here in spades, undoubtedly our favourite. . All three are great, we rate them Nk’Mip, Frei Brothers and then Inniskillen in that order having said that we really enjoyed them all. . #buybcwine #okanagan #cabernetsauvignon #redwine #redwinelover #bcwine #bcwinereview #okanaganwine #thanksgiving #lockeddown See more
