Grief tells you what matters most. It brings perspective if you allow yourself to feel it deeply. You may feel weary. You may feel like it is too much to bear. But I can tell you this my friend - you are not alone in this journey. Grief forces you into a new territory. But with time and with guidance you can discover new meaning in this life. Whether you have lost a loved one, a relationship or a piece of yourself along the way - your grief matters. You matter. #beaconcc #sylvanlake #counselling #therapy #youmatter #griefmatters #psychotherapy #couplescounselling #sylvanlaketherapist #sylvanlakecounselling

In these uncertain times change is certainly scary, overwhelming and can create sense of fear. Especially when the change is sudden, unanticipated and we feel like we have no say in it. So what can you do? Focusing on what you have say in these changes is key. Ask yourself what do I need during this season of change? Do you need rest, connection, understanding, Grace, compassion or maybe community? Change will come - hopefully not as fiercely as it has in 2020. Change is scary. But walking through change with someone who can support and guide you can make all the difference in your perspective. Lean into the change and amazing things will happen within and around you. #sylvanlake #counsellor #sylvanlakealberta #sylvanlakecounsellor #beaconcc #leanintochange

Can you be a present parent? The answer is YES! Of course you can. It takes some work and practice but it is possible with the right tools. There are many barriers to connecting with our kids (I will be sharing these soon). But here’s the good news. Our brains are wired for connection and so are our little ones. We all want to be deeply known and accepted. Your child wants to be deeply known and accepted by you. Your child has a built in with a desire to connect. I have a term I use called the 3 Ls. Listen, Learn, Lead. In order to be present we must first listen. Listening inward to your body, mind and spirit is the first step to present parenting. You can be present - it just takes practice, patience and the right tools. #presentparenting #counselling #sylvanlake #therapy #parenting #beaconcc #yougotthis #attachmentbasedparenting

I know the feeling all to well. The Monday overwhelm. The week ahead. The to-do lists. The feeling of how will I do this on my own? I know what it is like to struggle through thinking that somehow at the end of that to do list you will feel ok and complete, free from that nagging anxiety. There.is.another.way. A.better.way. For overfunctioners living in an anxious state is a coping mechanism to avoid something deeper. Painful feelings from the past or maybe a current situation that is looking like it will never change. Trying to do more is not an overfunctioners remedy. Learning to slow the mind and acknowledge the importance of your emotions is a skill that can break the cycle of Monday overwhelm. Let’s do Monday’s a different way. I’d be happy to help you find a better way to do Monday (and everyday for that matter).
