Just loving being able to dream up the new herb beds in our back yard~I have started some seeds already and now awaiting some important seeds for all my tea blends and other products I will be making over the next growing season~salves, creams, tinctures, single herbs to add to my apothecary The elderberry bushes are still asleep under a blanket of snow~but I have some dried for our stock of elderberry syrup which we take every day ~I will need to make some mesh bags to p...ut over the berries so the birds don't take them all this Summer/Fall. I will use one bush just to collect the flowers for winter tea blend~ ~Once the weather is good I will take a trip up the valley to borrow a gas tiller to till the new beds~ We have only been on this property just over a year (one growing season) and have done so much work already~the chicken coops my sister worked hard on and the chickens live outside most of the time when the weather permits. She worked her butt off growing all our veggies and will add cold frames and hopefully another greenhouse to make the growing season longer. Mum, at 82 still loves to get out in her garden and plans to add another rose bed and a moon garden by the wall in the front. Last Spring we spent a lot of energy taking out a lot of overgrown plants in a white picket fenced garden and now it is her pride and joy~full of flowers she grows from seeds and loves to cut them and bring them inside for us to enjoy~a real English country garden Next week the clocks go forward and signify to me a new start~for the plants all around us and for me~extra light~extra time~new growth~I embrace it~and I can't wait for warmer weather~and the sprouting of all the new life everywhere. #herbalmedicine #bearriver #herbs #botanicals #plantmedicine #novascotia
