Early Dismissal Day Fun! Children ages 6-9 can come to the community center on Oct 7 for games and activities that promote social and emotional development! Tip Tuesday is all about Sensory Bag Fun! Sensory bags are easy to create, portable and inexpensive. Sensory bags are also sometimes called squish bags.... Sensory bags allow children to explore, discover, imagine, create, and learn while engaging many of their senses. They are a great mess-free sensory play. Benefits of sensory play: Language Skills Children are able to expand their vocabulary and language skills as they describe their play experience and describe what textures they feel. Fine Motor Skills Children are manipulating small objects, dumping, scooping, and squishing. Social Skills Children are learning about sharing, playing and communicating with others while engaged in their sensory play. Science and Math Skills Children are also developing skills useful for science and math such as measuring, predicting, and learning about cause and effect while manipulating sensory materials.

A huge thank you to everyone in the community for your participation. We now have a group of children who have sent out their first letter to their Pen Pal. Please pass this information along to anyone over the age of 60 ... we have children waiting for a pen pal. It only takes a few minutes a month.

September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. This years theme is: Working Together to Prevent Suicide. This message marks the importance of communities everywhere coming together to recognize the impact of suicide and to strive to prevent it. Suicide prevention remains a universal challenge, every year 500 people in Alberta die by suicide.
