Do you ever catch yourself doubting when people complement you? You know what I mean. Someone says you are gorgeous and your instant reaction is to politely accept the compliment but in your head your thinking ‘she’s just being nice’ Why do we do that? Why are we so pre-programmes we don’t even believe it when it’s said honestly and innocently. More importantly how do we change that programming to find our inner peace, to find our confidence, to find ourself. ... I think it starts when you do something just for you, it doesn’t matter what that thing is (no I’m not talking about mom things) I’m talking about spending even 5 minutes a day doing something you love. You can’t love others until you love yourself after all. Maskcara is that for me. The artist program has been so much more to me than a money stream for my family. It may sound cliche but I don’t care. I still have those doubts (in fact it happened today hence writing about it) but I also have those moments when I truly, deep down feel pretty and accept myself. If you don’t believe you, you will never believe that others do. Find your thing! Find something that lifts you up, that gives you joy, that’s yours- big or small. It’s amazing what happens when you do.
