There have been two reported instances of counterfeit $100 bills being passed in Wainwright in the last four weeks. Attached are photographs of what the counter...feit bills look like. These bills are being purchased on Wish.com and with some slight alterations they’re being used to purchase goods. The product on Wish.com has every Canadian bill available, but so far we are only seeing the $100’s being used. How you can prevent yourself from being a victim: - Don’t accept $100 bills - If you do accept $100 bills, have a policy implemented where a second person has to come verify the authenticity of the bill, whether that be a manager or another employee. Once people see that you have crime prevention methods in place like this, they will be less likely to try and pass a counterfeit bill. If you have someone trying to pass a bill that you think is counterfeit, phone the police immediately! If we are in the area we can be there within seconds and hopefully apprehend the individual(s). What to look for to verify any authentic Canadian Currency: - Serial Numbers are on the back - The bill is printed on plastic like material and not paper - The black checkered lines SHOULD NOT be in the corner - The bill should have see thru material on the maple leaf and the strip beside the portrait - There should be no blue marks on the back side of the bill where the Asian symbols once were NOTE: 50.00 bills have now been found and reported as well.

We want to remind all hunters to follow all current public health orders - including isolating if sick, practicing physical distancing and practicing good hygie...ne. We also encourage you to keep in mind the Chief Medical Officer of Healths recommendations to stay close to home during this pandemic. We do recognize with the opening of spring hunting season for black bear and white geese, some hunters who live close to certain WMUs may still be planning to go hunting. We want to remind hunters that all hunting rules and regulations continue to be in effect, and hunters are still required to obtain the proper licences and permits before they head out. If you wish to hunt on agricultural public land or privately owned land, make sure you are taking the steps you need to complete before you enter onto the land. Learn more about land access at https://mywildalberta.ca/hunting/land-access.aspx For spring bear hunting, baiting is permitted in some WMUs, but there are specific rules that need to be followed. Baiting is prohibited within 1.6 km (1 mi.) of occupied dwellings, provincial parks that are not designated as Wildland Provincial Parks, provincial and forest recreation areas and some industrial sites. Each bait site must have a readily observable sign legibly showing the owners name, WIN, Big Game Outfitter-guide Permit number, or Big Game Guide Designation Number, as well as have surrounding signs posted to warn other people of its presence. More information can be found on page 56 of the Alberta Hunting Regulations book: http://albertaregulations.ca/2019-Alberta-Hunting-Regulatio For spring goose hunting (Rosss and snow geese), please ensure you have both the provincial and federal licenses required for migratory game bird hunting. Provincial licences that were valid in the fall of 2019 expire annually at the end of March, so a new provincial game bird licence is needed to hunt during spring 2020 spring goose hunting seasons. Federal migratory game bird hunting permits that were valid in the fall of 2019 may still be used however for the 2020 spring white geese seasons. More information on game bird hunting can be found here: http://www.albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/birdregs.html In this video, Officer Dana Brand talks about a few more things hunters need to know about spring bear hunting season.
