The Mountain View Road has been closed due to a mudslide from Wilcox Creek (before the Bevier Creek bridge). This is a view from the other side, opposite of town.

Please check https://511.alberta.ca for all further updates on road conditions..., delays, and closures. --- (July 5, 1 pm) Parks Canada will close both lanes of Highway 16, the Yellowhead Highway, from 2-3 pm today to allow for construction work that will allow for full opening of the highway later today. This is essential work and requires a complete suspension of traffic to complete. The highway will be closed in both directions for this time. You may consider shifting your travel plans to a little later in the day when the highway will be fully open. Highway 16 will reopen to two-way traffic this evening. Parks Canada thanks the crews for their dedication and the public for their patience. The maximum speed in the area will be reduced to 70 kilometres an hour until further notice. Some additional remedial work is still required so travellers can expect delays and single lane alternating traffic at times to ensure the safety of crews. Check 511.alberta.ca for further delays or closures before heading out. --- Repairs of Highway 16 flooding are underway. An additional culvert is being installed and pavement repaired. Work will require several days. Delays will vary based on traffic volume (10-40 minutes Saturday, >7 hours Friday afternoon). Single-lane alternating traffic will be kept open as much as possible. Some short pauses will be required for repair work. If you're driving a personal vehicle and looking for an alternate route, consider detouring via Saskatchewan Crossing. It will add ~2 hours to your usual drive time, but you get to experience the Icefields Parkway and avoid waiting in line. Please check https://www.511.alberta.ca for road updates before heading out. Rivers: Please be extra careful around rivers. Keep children and pets close. Riverbanks may be unstable. Backcountry & trails: Expect snow in the alpine, and water elsewhere. The Jacques Lake trail has been closed due to high water. If you are leaving obvious signs of trail damage, please choose another trail or another day for your adventure. For small mud sections, please walk/bike through the mud rather than around to avoid trail widening. History & Heritage in McBride. #ExploreBCLocal The Koeneman Home. The Koeneman home is now part of Koeneman Regional Park, a 4.5 ha park providing a pastoral picture on the east side of the Fraser River. A notable feature is the dovetail cornered log house.... The Koeneman Family Fred Koeneman came to McBride in 1923 and took up a homestead west of town. He worked for logging outfits, mainly doing river drives, cutting wood and loading cedar poles. He also had traplines. Fred Koeneman married Elizabeth in 1932. When their children reached school age, the Koenemans moved near McBride and built a home in 1938/39 along the Fraser River. In the forties, Mr. Koeneman worked for the Public Works Department and BC Forest Service as watchman at the Teare Mountain fire lookout above McBride. Fred Koeneman passed away in 1979. In the wake of several provinces raising concerns about residents from urban centres traveling to seasonal rural homes, Dr. Henry emphasized that all non-essent...ial travel to small communities within B.C., including to vacation homes or fishing lodges, should be cancelled. She pointed out how these small communities may not have adequate healthcare resources to handle an outbreak.
