Because ALL Children Matter 31.01.2021

On Monday we shared a heartbreaking story about a family of 4 children being raised by their alcoholic (and often absent) mother. The 3 boys were beaten by their uncle one day while their mother was absent, and the girl was raped. When we learned of this situation, our team quickly leaped into action and found a children’s home that would take all 4 children, until they can (hopefully) be reunited with their mother after she gets the help she needs. This is truly your donatio...ns dollars at work. We spent $500 USD making sure these children were safe and taken care of and it was worth every penny. This was ONLY possibly because of our generous followers and supporters. Unfortunately, situations similar to this one are much too common in Kenya. Our organization runs entirely on donations. Our team members are 100% volunteer, meaning every penny goes to helping children in Kenya. We are working hard to build a rescue and rehabilitation center to be able to help more children. Please consider making a donation to Because ALL Children Matter. No donation is too small, every dollar truly makes a difference. Donations can be made by etransfer (for our Canadian followers), through Global Giving, or through our website www.becauseallchildrenmatter.org/donate #makeadifference #volunteerorganization #nonprofit #nongovernmentorganization #becauseallchildrenmatter #internationalorganization #educationiskey #bethechange #volunteersneeded #kenya #africa #changetheworld

, ! ~ Kenya has quickly shown itself on what an amazing and vastly different country it is. Yesterday was our city tour of Nairobi, which was unique and incredible. We got to see and meet all different types of animals around the city- giraffes, ostriches, turtles, crocodiles, and monkeys. We were able to view the city from afar, from within, and on the outskirts to truly get a feel for what Nairobi actually is as a city. ...Playing with all the animals was wonderful and a dream, especially having a monkey on my back, but what impacted me the most was Kibera. Kibera, as I learned yesterday, is the largest slum in Africa and one of the largest slums in the entire world. We went straight in, initially meeting some powerful HIV positive women that cumulated their own business to support themselves and bring awareness to the community showing that you are still powerful with a diagnosis. Next, we went to a shop inside Kibera and filled twelve bags with flour, rice, beans, sugar, and salt. The group of us carried the bags through the zig zag roads, alleys, and nooks of Kibera to help the worst off in the neighborhood. We helped 12 families eat and every single person was so gracious and thankful. Walking through Kibera takes a toll on your mind and heart even for the strongest of humans. You're so hyperfocused on every step you take making sure you don't trip on an uneven ledge, step in a puddle, catch your head on a clothesline, or slam straight into a tin roof. Because of all the looking down and around it is very hard to take in what is actually going on around you. Kids everywhere, each step a new 100 sq ft room to a family on your right and left, tin metal and mud as the siding and roof for room these families live in, laundry being done in buckets and hung to dry, and people just trying to live. The funny thing is, with nothing except themselves, the kids seemed happy. Playing together, running around, using sticks or anything they could find on the ground to entertain themselves. I think back to the states to how many toys kids have and the amount of money people spend on trying to make themselves happy. But what always comes to light is that happiness is internal, you can't buy it, and even in one of the largest slums in the world it was blatantly evident. That experience will forever be in my heart and I can't wait to keep experiencing everything Kenya has to offer. See more

9 years old and raped by her uncle!!!!!!! But this isn’t just a story about her it’s a story about her and her 3 siblings! They are 12, 9, 7 and 5 years old. Their dad abandoned them and left them with their mother, which would be okay, but their mother is an alcoholic, who disappears for days at time. She needs real help but has to want it and accept it before she can get better. On the 9th of January their mother had been gone for 2 days, the children were left alone to ...find food and water. Their uncle payed them a visit, should be exciting to see your uncle...this was not! He beat the boys black and blue and then took Esther and started to remove her clothing, she fought back with all her might, he began touching her in ways that is never acceptable and she screamed in pain!! A neighbour came over to see what the fighting was all about and the uncle ran, just like a coward would! Their mom arrived home late that night and the children told her what happened, she thankfully reported this all to the police. A community group came to find out about what happened and took her to the hospital to be examined, she is recovering from her injuries, but her mental healing will take a lot more time! The doctor pleaded with them to find a way to have the children removed from their mother’s care. This unfortunately is not a one off situation and this is exactly why we need Scotty’s Rescue Centre! When the community group reached out to us on Friday, my eyes filled with tears and my gut and my heart wanted to go get the children immediately, but we can’t do that! Until we have the Rescue Centre we can only do so much to help the children. Luckily we are partnered with an amazing children’s home that has agreed to take ALL 4 children on a temporary basis. This is exactly why we need Scotty’s Rescue Centre!! To Rescue these children and get them in a safe place we spent over $500 US dollars in one day! If you would like to help us get our Scotty’s built you can help by sharing this post or donating through our website with this link. https://www.becauseallchildrenmatter.org/scottys-rescue-ce/

Meet Megan! Our first volunteer of 2021! She will be spending the next 8 weeks with us! Check out what she had to say about why she wanted to volunteer with us: I knew I would eventually end up in Africa since I was a teenager. I stowed away waitressing money from high school and said to my mom, one day I’ll use this to go to Africa. Life starts to fly by and the next thing I knew I was 30 and it was time. I was lost on what to do, what program to be a part of, or even what ...country to choose. What’s meant to be prevailed and Deanne and I connected across continents. It took me a few weeks to get the confidence to press purchase on my one-way ticket to Nairobi (thanks Eliz), but once I did I knew it was right. I’m so ready and excited to be here and have an intense calmness about what this trip will be and how I can help in anyway possible. I know in my heart Because ALL Children Matter will be apart of my life forever and I can’t wait to be apart of this family. See more
