Lets talk hair cycles! At any time, a number of hairs will be in any one of 3 stages of growth. This is why days after a wax you see a few hairs popping through. This isn't because they have grown back already, it is because new hairs were not yet through the skin when you waxed. You will always have hair in different growth stages, and each follicle produces hair at different times. 1. Anagen phase-This is the active growth phase. The cells in the root of the hair are rapidl...y dividing. A new hair is formed and pushes the old hair out of the follicle. eventually this old hair will fall out. In this stage, the follicle is well nourished and well hydrated. (hydration= great current conductor for electrolysis) The root is also attached to a network of capillaries. The anagen phase is our targeted time for electrolysis. 2. Catagen phase- This is a transitional phase. It is the shortest phase and typically only lasts a couple of weeks. Active growth slows to a stop, and the root begins to shrink and begins its separation from the capillaries. 3.Telogen- This is the resting phase. The hair is no longer growing, (basically just sitting in the follicle) and the hair eventually falls out when a new anagen hair takes its place.

What equipment am I using? And Why is it superior? What is electrolysis? Electrolysis is a progressive (takes time) and permanent hair removal method, which means that the hair will lose strength until it stops growing completely. (this is a natural opening in the skin) An ultra rapid current is applied, which allows for complete and permanent destruction of the cells responsible for hair growth (without damaging the skin)... ------> so yes, we treat each hair individually. it takes time and patience! We have 2 target areas to achieve permanent destruction. The Bulb and the Bulge. During the late life stage of a hair, the bulb is no longer connected to the papilla, so treating in the active/early anagen stage will yield the best results. Fun facts about electrolysis! -It has been around for over 140 years! -It is the only effective PERMANENT method of hair removal for ALL skin and hair types and colors. -Laser can be quite effective, especially for large areas, however cannot claim permanent hair removal (instead, permanent hair reduction) -Laser and electrolysis can work together! starting with laser for large and extremely dense areas, and follow up with electrolysis to remove what laser leaves behind -Laser is also limited to certain hair and skin types and colors, whereas electrolysis can remove them all

Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting more information about electrolysis, as well as the new equipment I will be working with All appointments will start with a complimentary consultation. ... In this consultation appointment, we will go over health and skin conditions, to ensure you are a candidate. I will teach you all about electrolysis, how it works, and what to expect over your course of treatment. You will learn of the importance of keeping on your appointment schedule, and a ballpark estimate of time it will take to achieve permanent results. (Treatment time estimates will always be variable. There are a number of factors such as health, medications, hormones, and medical conditions that can affect hair growth) I will perform a sample of the treatment on you , so I can figure out parameter settings, pain tolerance, and how your skin reacts to Electrolysis. I am back home, (safe and healthy!) and I did it! I am so excited to share that I am now a certified electrologist! It will take a few weeks for my equipment to arrive, and then I will be taking some extra time to continue perfecting my efficiency and technique. ... Many of you know how much time and effort went into this for me over the last few months, and I want to send a big thank you for all of the messages and words of encouragement I received! Both throughout my learning journey, as well as while I was away!

Week 1 at Academie Dectro is done! A busy (intense) week full of learning! I can't wait to share my knowledge with you all! Upgrading my trade skills during a world wide pandemic wasn't exactly what I originally envisioned, but I am thankful I had the support and courage to come!... One more week until I complete this hands on portion, and final exams! Then comes the many, many more hours I'll be practicing to perfect my technique and efficiency. Covid19 update please read With the recent outbreak and large amount of school exposures, I wanted to address appointments around this. If your child has had an exposure, please do not come to your appointment. Even if you have not been called yet by contact tracers, if you are aware of it please cancel. They are days behind in phone calls. ... If there is an exposure in your child's school, but they are NOT in the same class/cohort or have been in contact with the exposure, then you may come to your appointment. If the exposure is within the class/cohort of your child, or are a close friend or contact then please reschedule. Please remember I have a family and other clients to keep safe. I know the timing is terrible with me going away, but I assure you waiting an extra couple of weeks for your wax is in everyone's best interest. I am also about to get on an airplane and I also want to keep everyone around me in my travels safe as well. I will also be sure to notify people if we have had exposures in our household and will be canceling appointments in that event. Hey everyone! With adding Electrolysis to my menu, as well as post depilatory products (a new line made specifically for post Electrolysis treatments) and other retail, I have had to register for GST/PST. Effective November 1st, 5% GST will be added to services, and GST/PST will be added to retail products. I hate doing anything that raises costs, but unfortunately this one is necessary. ... But the good news, this will enable to bring in a bunch of really great products to retail! Thanks again for all of your support! Especially during this CRAZY year. Becky
