Eight brood boxes made pretty, May 8,2020. I cleaned and primed and then added 2 or 3 coats of base colour. Then three very dear friends volunteered to come help me make them pretty (don’t worry, since this took place during Covid19, we were careful and practised social distancing, spread out in my yard). I think the boxes look awesome and I can’t wait to put them out in the apiary in a few weeks. Then I can get those old ones off and paint them too. I am only painting the brood boxes. The honey supers will still be pink. I will post pics of them on the hives, later in the spring. Right now the bees are still in their winter wraps -It was 20C this day but then rained and went down to -5 and snowed overnight. Sask weather .

The BEES self isolated for the colder months but they have been out flying every warm (above zero) sunny calm day all this winter. This was March 11th and it was 7 degrees C.

What a weird time for our world! I am so sad to hear about the deaths and families affected by this pandemic and I wish for a speedy end to the chaos. Please take care of yourselves and remember to be good neighbours. The BEES are keeping their hives warm. Using a thermal camera I am able to check up on the hives and as you can see all of them are still showing heat and seem to be doing OK.
