You want to lose weight, build muscle, or improve your nutritional habits in 2021? But you know you have an issue holding yourself accountable and staying motivated. You also understand that the longer you put it off, the less likely you are to start. So, you dive in wholeheartedly with the hope that your efforts will lead to your goal. One week in, you realize it's not as easy as you wished it to be, and before you know it, you're quickly derailed. Sound familiar? Getting to... know and understand your limitations and making sure you have a plan of action to accommodate them is a true testament to how intentional you are about achieving your goals. If you ignore your limitations or leave overcoming them to chance, you are less likely to be successful. Know your limitations and from where you're starting. Plan a course of action that reflects that understanding and awareness. And you will be much closer to achieving the goal you've set forth.

Intention is more than setting a goal. Intention is about acknowledging where you are truly starting from, understanding where you want to be, and developing a course of action that joins the two. When you do nothing and expect change, you are merely hoping and wishing. And unless you have actively thought about where you are starting from and how you will get where you want to go, I don’t think you can honestly say you had the intention to get there. As you move through 2021..., understand where you are, what you want this year to look like, and set a realistic action plan that acknowledges those two points. Understand your intention. What are you going to be intentional about in 2021? Photo credit to my brotha @omii_film #intention #mindset #lifestyle #nutrition #holisticnutrition #befit #befitathome

Living a healthier life and eating better is a challenge for many of us. Yes...US. I didn't always eat as healthy as I do now. I did it all. From fad diets to carbs are bad to protein is life. Learning more about what I put into my body is a journey that has required many days where I've had to find motivation. However, I realized that food, for me at least, is a great motivator. I love the occasional "cheat meal" that goes against the healthy norm: burgers & fries, poutine, ...pizza etc. However, now, I make them from scratch, and I pick the best ingredients: grass-fed beef, organic dairy, organic produce, and I take the time to treat myself for a job well done. I look forward to these days, and you should too. I place them in my calendar, and I connect them to achieving my milestone goals. What's your favourite "cheat meal"? Tell me, and I might make it one day and send you a picture :D.

"Jamie, it's hard to stay motivated when the journey is long." Isn't this the truth?! This is precisely why motivation has to be planned. You know the journey is long, and you can't leave those days to chance. We aren't talking about the short term. We are making life decisions here, and we are in it for the long haul. We NEED support. The journey you take for yourself, but you don't have to do it by yourself. Depending on the goal, get your family, friends, a life coach, a t...herapist, a nutritionist, and even a trainer to help you keep going. And as you hit those milestones along your journey, make sure to celebrate them. Have something to look forward to. What are you looking forward to this week that's keeping you going?
