Day 2: Hands at work Getting back into the weaving routine and remembering all the handy tricks (while making all the mistakes ). I used to always hold off on using my really good yarns until I found the perfect project. I now realize that there will never be a perfect project. The yarns are what will make the project perfect, so I’ve dove into my stash and picked some favourites ... #marchmeetthemaker #lauramorenodesigns #weave #weaver #weaverfever #weaversofinstagram #weaversgonnaweave #make #maker #slowcraft #makersofinstagram #makersgonnamake #yarn #yarnaddict #yarnlove
Hi there My name is Laura Moreno and I’m from the Niagara Falls area in Ontario, Canada. I’m a mom to 4 awesome kids (12,9,5,1) and wife to the best guy @davemorenocoaching. I’ve been sewing since I was in high school and have definitely been most influenced by my mom when it comes to my interest in fabric, threads and building an unhealthy stash lol. Today I still enjoy making clothing and quilts and am inspired by designers like @tulapink and @kaffefassettstudio (definit...ely a @freespiritfabrics fan). I started weaving in 2016 when my husband surprised me with a @maryannemoodie class in NYC. I was HOOKED. So hooked that I went to another class of hers in LA and then a retreat in Thailand where I learned more techniques from @natalie_miller_design as well as macrame and natural dying. It’s safe to say I became obsessed with all creative outlets that involved fibre. The last 2 years have been consumed by life- a couple moves, a new career and a baby- so my hobbies have mostly been packed away. I’m very excited to start 2020 with diving back into all the things! I’ve started sewing and weaving again and am now trying my hand at embroidery (which is the what I chose for @fibreshare). I think it’s a great idea to have something I can keep in a bag with me while out. Well...that’s enough about me! Thank you @joannehawker for #marchmeetthemaker again. I always look forward to getting to know everyone #marchmeetthemaker #lauramorenodesigns #weaver #quilter #sewist #maker #beginner #fibreart #fibrelove
The last time I used this loom was about two years ago. That was 3 houses ago. How that same project has managed to stay intact, I have no idea (must be a mix of magic and amazing movers). Tonight I’m getting everything organized in anticipation of a full day of weaving tomorrow. I don’t remember how to do any of it... but that’s what YouTube is for, right? #beginagain #beginner #floorloom #floorloomweaving #weaversgonnaweave #weaversofinstagram #itsgoodtobeback
This yearn makes my heart SO happy #yarn #yarnaddict #yarnlove #fiberart #fibreart #weave #weaver #weaversgonnaweave
It’s been probably a year and half since I’ve touched these baskets. Here goes nothing! #feelsgoodtobeback #letsdothis #fibreart #fiberart #weaving #macrame #lauramorenodesigns
