Sweet throwback to last November when I decided to dedicate the Fresh Pasta recipe from my cookbook to all the Italian Women around the world, who keep all the Italian Food traditions alive. I think they deserve it, right? At first I was thinking to dedicate the whole book to all the immigrants out there but then I thought that this book, my first book, needed to be dedicated to my parents and also to my in laws When I moved to Canada, I was fascinated by all the Italian C...anadian Women I encountered who invariably made fresh pasta and other traditional dishes for their family. There is a lot to admire in these women, because they had to learn this skill in a era without the internet. Truly, I have so much respect for all the Italian and not Italian women who left their Country during such a difficult time to embark upon a new life in a new world without being able to speak English. For the love of their family all those women were able to keep their cultural and food traditions alive. Happy Thursday See more

Happy St. Patrick Day Yesterday I made Irish Soda Bread for the first time, inspired by one of my follower that I love deeply ( you know who you are) I m Italian and I never even ate Irish bread so I had no idea what I was looking for taste. It is a perfect breakfast bread to have with butter and jam This was the most easy bread I ever made I used @myfamilytable recipe and worked perfectly. ... Here her written recipe, also check her website she has lots of good recipes Enjoy the day INGREDIENTS 4 to 4 cups flour 1 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 4 tbsp butter cut into small pieces 1 large egg, slightly beaten 2 tbsp lemon juice - 1 3/4 cup milk A sprinkle of love METHOD: 1. Preheat oven to 425 F 2. Mix the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until it become coarse meal/crumbs. 3. Pour the lemon juice in a 2 cup glass measuring cup and fill up to 1 3/4 mark with milk. Let milk sit for several minutes to sour.( I took the opportunity to make an espresso while I was waiting) Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add beaten egg and soured milk to the well and mix with a wooden spoon. Once the dough is too stiff to stir, dust hands with a little flour, and then gently knead dough in the bowl just long enough to form a ball. If the dough is too sticky, add in a little additional flour. 4. Shape dough into a round loaf. (The dough will be a little sticky and quite rugged looking.) But do not over-knead! Work it just enough so that the flour is just moistened and the dough just barely comes together. Rough and shaggy is good. Over-kneading will result in a tough loaf of bread. 5. Put the dough on baking sheet. Using a serrated knife, score top and make a cross or x shape. 6. Put it in the oven and cook until bread is golden brown for about 35-40 minutes. 7. This bread is perfect with some butter and jam 8. Buon Appetito

Happy Monday, the beginning of another week and we are still in a Pandemic. Everything is still so uncertain and there is so much tension around. I wish you the best week ever full of love, Netflix, baking, cooking, reading and more. The best thing about 2020 is going to be my cookbook a collection of my family recipe full of love and some imperfections You can buy it www.mammamarzia.ca link in Bio. ... I not afraid to say that Im more scared of how this cookbook will be judged when is released to the public than COVID-19. There is so much expectations in this industry, everything seems so perfect and unreal and I went the opposite way: the heart way. Happy Monday at the end it will be just AMAZING . . . #cookbook #pandemic #cookbookauthor #mammamarziakitchen #monday #mondaymotivation #cookingwithmammamarzia #immigrant #story #imperfection

Apron on and Setting the table is a must in my family. I do not cook without an apron and I don’t eat without a tovaglia/ tablecloth. Growing up Italian means that you always, I repeat always, eat dinner or lunch at the table with a table cloth. The idea to eat without a cloth give me goosebumps. Please don’t judge me I grew up in Italy and since I was a little girl my job was to set up the table before dinner. I have lots of table cloth that my mom bought since I was a li...ttle girl for me when I would get married. If you set a table with a table cloth your table looks neater and so classy it doesn’t have to be expensive; I got one for every day at @homesensecanada for 14 dollar. And yes I have every day table cloth, Sunday Table cloth, Christmas Cloth and Festive Cloth. Today is Sunday, if you make something special for your family try to set up a table and wear an apron, it will be like wearing a crown One time someone said to me that Im too old style and this is Canada and we are equal. I know its true, Im old style and love tradition but wearing an apron doesn’t take anything away, it doesn’t mean that you are a slave in the kitchen actually its the opposite Do you wear apron? Do you set your table before dinner with a cloth? Spoiler alert from my cookbook Im so proud to share this recipe with the world. This is my mom’s meat sauce, our absolutely favourite. I can see becoming favourite sauce in so many family but more exciting is that my family traditions will become yours too This is the sauce that I use for Lasagna, fettuccine, cannelloni or on a piece of bread. Do you want to know my favourite way to taste the sauce? I like to dip some bread in it and taste. Its truly the best wa...y, you could ask my daughter she is an expert on that When I was a kid I remember sneaking into the kitchen to dip the bread, it was so satisfying. My mom used to scream if she saw me and now I do the same with my daughter. Its risky to leave the pot unattended in my house Happy Sunday I love you all you are amazing . . . #ragu’ #bolognese #picoftheday #professionalpictures #familytraditions #italiantraditions #italianculture #cookingwithmammamarzia #mammamarziakitchen #langley #immigrant #italianwife

My Tik Tok video about Pastina Soup went viral and Im going to tell you why. Nine years ago I baked cookies and sold them at school craft fairs, it was so much fun. If you know me you know that I don’t like baking but, at that time I was helping out a friend with her craft fairs. I remember staying up late the night before the craft fair and baking Nutella Heart Cookies with my kids. At 11 pm they were eating Nutella cookies like like there is no tomorrow , we definitely build up sweets memories What I have learned from that experience is that b...aking is not my thing. My desserts came out beautifully and every craft fair we sold out but I m more creative so I LOVE cooking. Cooking is truly my passion especially cooking pasta Happy Thursday, I hope you liked my #throwbackthursday . . . #cookbook #cookbookauthor #italiancookbook #bakingqueen #entrepeneur #italianmom #mammamarziakitchen #makingmemories #

I found this old pictures of my in law from 1968 the day before they got married. My mother in law moved here end of November 1967, she had to live at some friends house until the wedding in January. She was not allowed to live in the same house with my father in law before the marriage I recently found a love letter that he sent her before she moved here and I have to say I m still speechless, I cried after I read it That letter handwritten from 1967 has so much love..., dream of a family and hope for a better life. I have so much respect for all the immigrants that left Italy and moved far away for a better life; back then they had no phone and no way to contact family, no English, no money but I hope for a great future. They all worked so hard for that, Italians are very well know for being hard worker. My father in law had 20 dollars in his pocket when he landed to Canada and had to work 2 jobs for quite a while to create a better future and he did a great job. He was so proud of his family and what he achieved in 54 years of hard work.
