We made it. The end of our season has finally arrived. Despite all of the stress that covid has brought, we truly have been blessed with a smooth, successful season. Id like to take a moment to thank our clients. Both new and returning. Because of your love and support im able to feed 3 little tummies, keep a warm home and stay here in Cape Breton with my family. I would be remiss if i didn't say thank you to the many venues we visited this season. We are always greeted in ...the warmest ways. From offering to help us load into a building or take down after an event, there is a massive amount of help from all and this does not go unnoticed. There are too many to list and fear of leaving someone out.... so if we have served you or have visited you this season, please know we are profoundly thankful for everything you do. So in saying all of that, today I rest my aching bones. Ive put down the iron, I've stopped sorting, counting, cleaning dusting and shining. Im left in a strange silence but it's welcomed and really needed. From the bottom of my tired, emotional and happy heart... thank you

Last night I attempted something I had only wished I would use one day.. A Cricut. I have seen these bad boys in real time working their magic. I was ready, able and willing to use it! Now, keep in mind this isnt my machine so Im already terrified Im going to screw something up. My first issue was realizing I didnt even have it turned on. LOL... However, After a long face time call with my friend and owner of the machine, Chelsea.. a near hysterical sob and a little laughter I completed my first projects. My only question is.. when does it stop? No really, is this my life now? Vinyl has taken over and Im absolutely tickled I can definitely see myself purchasing one of these in my future. There is so much you can do!!

If you know me personally, all I talk about is wanting to find a couple of barrels.. nothing fancy, in fact.. the more beat up, the better I have searched high and low, begged a couple of moms to sell theirs to me.. but no luck Until last week..... Today has been particularly difficult. I think the effects of what's happening around us are finally beginning to settle in. I've been emotional when speaking with my clients these past few days. I can only imagine the devastation they feel. Not being able to spend time with family members and friends has been the hardest part in all of this. I miss them so much. ... If anything, what we can take from this experience is being thankful for the love we have been witnessing throughout our community. Getting to watch us come together in times of need has been the best part of this for me. So many businesses and people have come together to make life fun and as normal as possible for the kids at home. I just feel really lucky to be living through a time filled with so much love. That's all I have to say today. My wish is that you're able to take some good from this crisis. I needed a little reminding today so I wanted to return the favor and remind you as well. A month of new beginnings, hopefully some beautiful spring weather, the upcoming Easter long ...weekend - AND, one of my favourite days, TARTAN DAY! Get out your best Tartan Attire and snap me a picture! During this time of social distancing and self isolation, connection, creativity, and humanity are at the forefront of my mind. Sprinkle in a wee bit of humour by stepping outside of your comfort zone, and watch my friends as the magic happens. After much encouragement and suggestions from family, friends, colleagues, and industry professionals, I’ve decided to take a leap of faith (*gulp*) and make ‘Beyond the Tartan Doors’ more than just a catchy phrase for all that ‘wee’ do at The Forrester Centre & The Krypt Lounge. ‘Beyond the Tartan Doors’ is going to be a live platform and show that will be devoted to sharing, news and information, ideas, vast expertise and resources, and much more, and hosted by yours truly along with our featured guests and subject matter experts. Wee also want to showcase our Island and all the good things happening and being produced here. As a business deeply rooted in our Scottish and Celtic culture for the last 55 years, continuing to promote our beautiful Island, our culture, people, innovation and creativity is natural to us. As this will be a new ‘stage’ for me as a dancer, please be patient with me as I navigate this new creative platform and stage. To start, wee will be very ‘grass roots’ as wee just want to connect with you, chat with you, share with you, and laugh with you. Like every other small business, wee are significantly impacted so wee will make due with what wee have to work with - technical advisors welcomed if you want to join me on this journey. Here’s how it’s going to work: To start, this page will be renamed to ‘Beyond the Tartan Doors’ (BTD) and anyone can join our community. This is meant to be a positive, informative, and inspiring group. All of our BTD videos will take place in this group page. I've always been extremely passionate about interior design and staging spaces. It's not only extremely soothing for me, it's fun as well! Getting to be creative, is one of the many rewarding aspects of this career. In addition to designing I am a certified planner through the @wpicinc (Wedding Planners Institute of Canada). This has brought a significant amount of peace to my clients during their planning process. Being onsite and ready when an issue arises allows my clients to enjoy their day in peace with their loved ones. When I'm not designing I enjoy spending time close to home with my fur babies Oreo, oliver and Sophie or I'm visiting with friends. I want to thank you all for your continued support. Early this week our very own Chelsea gave birth to her first son. We are so proud of chelsea. Baby and momma are doing fabulous and it's very evident they are surrounded by so much love. ... Everyone say hello to Oliver Paul David Coombs. Born February 12th 2020. Weighing 6lbs 14oz and 19.75 inches long Congratulations Chelsea and Michael. We are sending so much love.
