How time flies. Thank you Beverley for sharing your photos of the time in our history that showed us the worst of humanity and the very very best of humanity. Your support of the town of Gander, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and your incredible contribution to the theatrical production of Come From Away is the gift that keeps on giving.
Bit of Clears Cove and the cove.
I would like to encourage all of you to get in on these fabulous offers. What a brilliant opportunity to add to your collection or gift them to a dear one.

Saturday, July 18, 2020, avid hiker, Jeannine Winkel was out in boat whale watching off Fermeuse. As she passed Berry Head Arch on the Spurwink Path, Jeannine ...noticed 2 hikers at the Arch. She took a few pictures of them. Tuesday, Jeannine posted her pictures on Facebook, fingers crossed that somebody could help find the hikers at the Arch. That same night, she had found them, but heres the kick of the story... One of the hikers, Nikita Stapleton, had seen the boat through the Arch, and had taken a picture of the boat with Jeannine Winkel in it ...through the Arch. What an amazing story. Picture 1: Nikitas, taken from Spurwink Path. Picture 2: Jeannines, taken from the boat.

The SS Ilex - a 694 ton vessel owned by Wareham and Sons of Spencers Cove in Placentia Bay. On the morning of October 27, 1948, the Ilex left St. Johns en route... to Kingston, Jamaica with a shipment of salt fish when an approaching storm forced the ship to seek refuge in Fermeuse Harbour. Shortly after the Ilex was secured for the night, a fire broke out in the engine room. The Western Star reported that the chief engineer on board at the time, Arch Sutherland was nearly killed by the initial backdraft explosion. Luckily the entire crew was able to escape by lifeboat just before the ship was fully engulfed in flames. After smoldering for several days, the crew managed to salvage what they could of the cargo but the damage to the ship was irreparable and thus the ship was left as it is today. Although very easy to find, she was NOT easy to get to! Very steep and overgrown bank had to be hiked/scaled in order to get close!
