Bell Tower Community Café 09.10.2020

The Bell Tower has been temporarily located at Broadway Neighbourhood Centre since April. We are grateful for the new home, but we also look forward to returning to Westminster one day. For the month of August, we will be open on Monday, August 10th and Monday, August 24th. If you are registered with Winnipeg Harvest, pick up is available at 5:30. Walk ins are available at 6:30. We hope to see you out tomorrow evening!

Bell Tower Community Café 27.09.2020

The Bell Tower is open Friday, March 20th. The health and safety of everyone involved in Bell Tower is of utmost importance. This includes all of our volunteers and everyone who comes to pick up food as a registered or walk in client. It is also important to us that we do what we can to ensure people are able to access food in a safe and healthy environment. At this point, Winnipeg Harvest is continuing to operate, while taking measures to protect against COVID 19 (including... effecting handwashing and respiratory hygiene). Winnipeg Harvest has also advised food banks of some operational changes to make to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Bell Tower is coming up this Friday, March 20th and will be open with significant modifications to how we operate. We will only be open to assemble and hand out food hampers - to both registered and walk in clients. We will open our doors at 5PM and will be open to hand out hampers until 8PM. If necessary, we will limit the number of people entering the building. We hope this method eliminates lines and limits contact. We will only be handing out food hampers; there will be no meal, no rides home and no mini mart. In addition to our revised procedures, we will continue to maintain cleanliness as a top priority at Bell Tower. We strive to maintain a healthy and clean environment year-round. In response to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we are taking extra precautions at this time. What we're doing: - Enhancing our cleaning processes prior to our food delivery on Friday afternoon from Winnipeg Harvest. This includes the wiping and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces such as handles, handrails, restroom stall doors, and sinks, and tables and shelves to put food on; - Providing foam hand sanitizer at the Westminster entrance to the building and clean handwashing facilities in the basement; - Using gloves for all handling of food hampers and the food that goes into them; and - Taking our direction from global, federal, and local health officials such as the World Health Organization and Public Health Agency of Canada, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and adjusting protocols when necessary. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update our practices as needed to reflect recommendations from the Government of Canada. We recognise that there is much uncertainty at this time and since it is an evolving situation, we will be providing you with updates and more information as it becomes available. We encourage you to learn more using the information available through the Government of Canada Public Health Services. In this time of uncertainty, may you find ways to take care of yourself and others, at a time of isolation, may you find ways to be hospitable, and in this time of much anxiety, may you feel peace. Be safe.

Today you can help keep Bell Tower going in 2020 and make a difference! We have officially launched our online fundraising campaign. Please consider donating and spreading the word. WE'RE HIRING! Since Agape has moved on from Bell Tower, we are looking to hire a new co-ordinator. There are four main things the new co-ordinator will be responsible for: volunteer relations, Winnipeg Harvest food delivery and organization of hamper foods, set up of the cafe in the second floor cafe room, and co-leading the operations of the Bell Tower on Friday nights. The Bell Tower is able to pop up every other Friday with the support of a great team of volunteers. The c...o-ordinator's primary role is to develop new volunteers, organize the team, train and support volunteers and organize the operations of Friday nights at the Bell Tower. The role requires Friday afternoon availability, starting at 1:30 onward. Please share and help us spread the word. Please get in touch if you would like to learn more and find out details about the job. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, please forward a resume to myself, Meaghan Pauls at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you!

This is the last weekend to join the Making Good Things Together campaign! A big thank you to EVERYONE who donated. We made 78% of our fundraising goal. Help us get to $15,000. Your dollars with the hardest working team of volunteers allow the Bell Tower Community to share a delicious meal every other Friday, BBQ in the summer months and offer low cost groceries for purchase. You are helping Winnipeggers become more food secure in a sustainable way, surrounded by their community. Donate here to join: https://making-good-things-together-2019.causevox.com/
