Reposted from @twinoaksfarmfiber The Great Ontario Fibre Fair With the increased interest in local fibre, we wanted to create and launch a new fibre competition... for 2021. Introducing The Great Ontario Fibre Fair! We envision this fair being similar to a country fair where people bring their best work to display it and have it judged against their neighbours in friendly competition. In this digital age, the competition will all be virtual, that is, all entries will be submitted online with photographs, rather than being gathered in a building to touch and feel. By showcasing locally grown fibres, we hope to connect the farmers and animals who grow the fibres to the artisans and consumers who purchase them. We also hope that this fair encourages people to share patterns, ideas and fibre sources widely for others to see. Over the coming weeks 1- We will finalize categories, submission forms and details. 2- We are looking for sponsors and donors for specific categories or the competition as a whole. Monetary donations as well as prizes (eg., gift cards for top three winners in a category). 3- Boost media exposure and share the event via social media and email to various organizations. 4- Start now and get your fibre sourced and created. Since it takes time to source and create we want to launch our fair now to let you have the time needed. Unfortunately, my kiln needed an ...upgrade partway in, so only half were fired & glazed (still waiting for their clappers). More to come, to be gifted in the new year.
