Having someone to come check in on you, help with the little things that just keep piling up, let you sleep or shower...It's huge! Especially when that someone has training that helps them recognize the early signs of post partum mood disorders. And people...Even if your partner is home on pat leave (as I know SO many of my friends' husbands are!) a post partum doula is still an important investment. Mom can sleep, dad can bond with baby, and I can get your dishes and laundry done! It's win win for everyone!

Just home from a birth, and I have to say... Birth is amazing. Our bodies are amazing. I can't believe that I get to be part of something so special and miraculous! The joy and love I have in my heart right now is astounding. Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me be part of your amazing day!

Time for another interactive post! For those of you who had a doula, how was your experience? Will you have a doula again? If anyone has had multiple births, both with and without a doula, how would you say they compare?

It's hard finding families who are open to even just having a conversation with me. It's hard putting myself out there and getting shut down, or even ignored. I will persist. I just got home from a consult, and let me say this: I feel so fulfilled! Whether or not this beautiful couple decides to hire me for their birth, I know without a doubt that I am doing the work I was made to do. I freaking LOVE being a Doula!
