Oh, the iconic Dairy Queen cone with its perfect loop-d-loop. With summer finally arriving in Calgary (in mid-July, seriously?), the heat has a lot of us turning to colder treats. I had the opportunity to speak with a contractor and we got on the topic of expectations for businesses. Often, customer expectations are set by the business itself. As we talked, this individual shared with me an experience she had with a Dairy Queen employee and it the perfect example of how even... the simplest expectation can ruin a customer’s experience. She had ordered a sundae and when it was handed to her without the iconic loop-d-loop, she was upset. Although the ice cream tasted the exact same, the experience was different. Her expectations weren’t met. Whether the employee didn’t know how to create the loop-d-loop or simply didn’t care, you don’t want to find yourself in a similar situation. As you build your #business, you are establishing standards and an experience that you will be held to. Why risk having an employee misrepresent your #brand by not having systems and guides in place? If an employee doesn’t know how to perform a task, have a #system to train them. If they don’t care about the task, have a system for firing them. #Consistency is key! #yycbusiness #belmark
