The jig is up!! Not that catching walleyes for over 30 years has even started to get old but my spinning reels sure have. After trying every inline reel avai...lable on the market over the past couple of years and with nothing short of failure, I thought why not a centerpin? And as it turns out, this was the smartest and most sound decision I have made since the first walleye I hooked up with, decades ago. Frustrated with line twist? Want better line management? Looking to have more fun catching and fighting your fish? Sensitivity? There is not a more reliable drag than using the palm of your hand and having the ultimate control of your jig in a constant depth changing environment such as the flow of the Detroit and Lake St. Clair Rivers. You will achieve greater rod sensitivity just by the natural hold of your rod and centerpin without even knowing it, but I promise you, you will know it on your very first tap. Does it sound like I am trying to sell something? Well, I sort of am. I am trying to share with you the best decision I have ever made for my walleye game and educate you through my trial and errors. I have spent a great deal of money trying out different inline reels and the cheaper less expensive floatreels before settling in with a BER. Unfortunately, I am out a few hundred dollars, but I felt it was necessary to have what I have now. The issue I had with the cheaper floatreels was instant. And it was with the immediate inconsistent tension at startup when I needed to adjust depth and allow the reel to free spool for my jig to reach the rivers bottom on a controlled drift within the current. With ABEC 7 and 5 bearings and the ridiculous precise craftsmanship of a BER it was like night from day. My choice was made immediately. And you to, will know it when you pick up a reel in your hand for the very first time. (like a virgin for the very first time) I now have better hook ups. Land more fish and absolutely have way more fun now than I ever have. And just to mention, I really like not having to waist any more money on respooling. Zero line twist. Zero. No more flipping bail-wires or pulling line out against the drag to adjust for changing depths. From the time your jig hits the water, you have total control with just one hand to set the hook as the depth change increases. And for all my American family, BER reels are priced in CAN dollars. Saving you that much more with the exchange. If you see me at a boat launch, STOP me, I just might let you touch my rod. You can feel and see the difference for yourself. When you are ready to make the switch, I recommend spooling up a BER Centerpin reel with some braided line and get jiggy with the walleye.
