This Throwback Thursday takes us back to Split Rail Weekend, 1980. Last week we mentioned our grandfather created Frontier Village with the help of Charlie Lever. This weeks picture shows Charlie and Al Karn walking back to the village, donkey in tow, to participate in the fun. Every September, Flesherton put on the Split Rail festival. In conjunction with that, our family and friends from near and far came, dressed up as characters from the early 1900’s and put on a show for anyone who stopped by. #BQC_TBT

This weeks TBT is from Frontier Village, September 1988. When our family came to Flesherton in 1973 our grandfather along with the help of his good friend Charlie Lever had a dream to create place where families could come to learn about how people lived the in early 1900’s. Their vision became a reality in the late 1970’s when Frontier Village was brought to life. It was a place that brings back many fond memories for all of us as well as many people who visited over the years. Today’s memory goes back to the early 1970’s in Newcastle, Ontario where Archie and Pat owned the original Bernard’s Garage. In 1973 they packed up their lives and family to move to flesherton, leaving behind many friends and memories. How cool is it that Terry and his pal Willie Woo, still from Newcastle, have reconnected! Willie and his wife, Donna stopped in for a visit yesterday but Terry was out so we had the privilege of chatting with them. Terry and Mary Lynn are looking forward to the next visit! #BQC_TBT
