Cuz I know some of y’all might be curious.....Here I am 12 days after baby I’m definitely making more conscious choices, cutting down on the bagels and ice cream following some Best Body Mommy Principles (and on a budget as I am taking some time off) My body is still healing, it still feels like I have been in a car accident (I delivered vaginally with tearing), and I just started small 20 mins walks with Simba yesterday... Step by step. The fresh air yesterday was AMAZING I was at 198lbs 12 days ago with a big baby girl in my tummy. I’m not getting on a scale yet, and my goal is to fit comfortably into my clothes and my winter gear by February I am going to be documenting my progress for 3 months, but with flexibility and kindness. I will be including some cheat days, and my workout progress I miss working out. THIS Mocktail... It’s a new life when you have stressful day and realize that now you can’t have wine, alcohol, Advil, more than one cup of coffee, you can’t use most essential oils or take hot baths or crush a mad workout My Dr. Said I could have the occasional glass of wine but...that’s a risk I won’t take So I needed a back up... This fresh mocktail has been my saviour and of course you can add a little liquor if your not pregnant, but for me, I’m going to keep it fresh and simple 1) crush 2 tbsp fresh ginger and let sit in 1/2 cup boiling water for 10 mins with 1 tbsp honey, maple syrup or stevia. Let it cool for 1 hour 2) chop 1 tbsp fresh mint, two wedges of lime and 2 wedges of lemon. Pregnancy and Isolation Snacks has given me an extra 12 lbs, and you know what I feel sexier than ever I am still exercising (at a much lower intensity) and I am still consciously eating healthy foods - BUT - this is a beautiful time where the body needs to eat a little more (creating a human is a lot of work!!!) and you allow yourself some treats without fear of getting more ‘curvy’... Is Calorie Counting Good For Losing Weight? Ohhhh touchy topic Babes, I hear youuuuu... First. Let me ask you a question If your credit card is maxed out, and your spending habits are out of control, and you can’t seem to save money, do you think that tracking everything you buy, everyday for 7-14 will give you ideas and insights into how you can save money? The answer is, yes! Ok, next question If your eating habits are out of control, and you can’t seem to get a grasp on eating healthy vs. eating to lose weight, do you think that having a look into your daily calories could give you insights and teach you about where you may be spending too many calories each day and help you lose weight? The answer is....yes So is it a toxic practice to track your calories? Here is another honest question I got If you eat enough calories to lose weight, but eat only processed foods and junk, can you still lose weight? The answer is yes, yes & yes BUT It is not as simple as that There are many different factors to consider and I can only type so much in Instagram 1. Ya Need a good food tracker and food scale 2. You need to know your BMR, your daily activity level, and take that into careful consideration 3. You need to create a calorie deficit - whether it’s through exercise or tweaking your nutrition 4. And if you want your calorie counting to be healthy and successful, you need to be eating 80% healthy whole foods with fruits and veggies It sounds simple but it is very complex. This was a conversation I had with a dear client of mine last week Not to sound like a bitch but If I followed ‘what I feel like’ and making choices only based on that, I would lie in bed and eat cheese all day, everyday... Yes, you SHOULD listen to your body. There are times when it needs to rest, eat chocolate and be ‘unproductive’ That is one of my biggest lessons I have learned from this isolation and time off work. I need more down time and to stop striving and watch some reality TV, read or play video games. For real. However, we need to go deeper. Yes. There will be times when you just don’t feel like it. A lot of the time Currently You may feel lazy You may feel down You may not want to get outside Sitting down is easy, but getting back up.....I can’t But more importantly, if you feel down in the moment, if you feel stuck, negative, depressed, bored, tired - this is when you need to force yourself into movement This is when you #justdoit And this 60%-80% of the time for most people Here is the kicker. The question how do you feel after? 99% Report that they feel better It becomes a practice similar to jumping into cold water. You don’t want to do it, but you know that after you feel so incredibly energized. Same as exercising Don’t wait I could be wrong but, I feel like we think that, in order to workout and live healthful lives, we need have already have ‘succeeded’ or already attained some sort of perfect fit body prior to even moving That is like saying I will be happy when....or, I will be healthy when... It starts now. Not ‘then’ It all starts when you feel off, or fat, or lazy, depressed, unmotivated It starts in that place, and acting to move from that place is an act of self love, tough self love You say common girl, get moving and you move. Potato Medley The craving is real, and the flavour is out of this world Sometimes you need a little homemade carb comfort food ammmiriiiight?... 1Chop into cubes one large sweet potato or two small sweet potatoes after you wash them throughly 2Cube 5 small white baby potatoes 3In a bowel, combine the baby potatoes and the sweet potatoes with avocado oil or coconut oil, sea salt, pepper, dried summer savoury and toss together 4Place the potato’s into a baking dish lined with parchment paper 5Bake on 400 for 20 mins in middle rack. I gotta give recipe credit to my girl @k__ste She wined and dined me on a hot summer day with this recipe over tofu and bok choy Girl....if your listening.....your my little chef p.s. which book did you grab this recipe from?!?! Well, after falling in love with it and needing to make this at home, here is my version of it... This recipe is so easy and so delicious. Let us get right to it Ingredients: 3 tbsp natural peanut butter or almond butter 2 tbsp coconut aminos or organic soy sauce 2 tbsp coconut oil 1 tbsp sesame oil optional 2 tbsp grated ginger 1 clove chopped garlic Preparation: Combine all ingredients into a small saucepan. Simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to boil or burn You may be creative and serve this sauce with: firm tofu rice noodles nuPasta kelp noodles chicken brown or wild rice in a vegetable stir fry cooked quinoa or sorghum DM me and let me know what you think #peanutsauceoneverything

Shit gets real when your on your period and there is no shame in being a woman Last weeks cycle was brutal, and I decided to make some oat and almond butter based cookies with semi-sweet dark chocolate chips to get me through my cravings. I just turned 35 I don’t have any kids yet. I got divorced at 27. I live alone. I run my own businesses so I have no health plan, no pension and no unemployment insurance I dread doing my taxes... My dad is always asking me when I am going to go back to nursing and get a real job It sounds depressing doesn’t it? Let’s get a few things straight I am NOT one of those ‘entrepreneurs’ who quit their day job and now lives in a fucking high rise condo, driving a Mercedes, taking selfies all day I am the real deal. My health and my business has been a 10 year journey And I am proud of it My weight fluctuates just like my business. I was never good a sports and I was bullied for being fat for 7 years. My ups and downs are real and teach me so much about myself and the world All in all, I am so incredibly GRATEFUL My exercise, my nutrition, and my *BALANCE has given me ALL that I need in life. It has given me Confidence, Health, Youth, Energy, Endorphins, Flexibility, Stamina, Strength and Sass I am one hundred times healthier and confident than I was at 22 and I am so grateful for that I made exercise and balanced eating enjoyable. I made it a lifestyle specific to ME and while I see others give up, I keep going because it’s what I love - NOT what I am forced to do Don’t get fooled by social media or what others say or expect from you. Sweet sweet Potato Medley It’s still cold outside here in OTTAWA, Canada, which means a nice roasted veggie dish is a good idea to keep warm on the inside Shall I share this one with you?... Ingredients: 3 large sweet potatoes 2 red onions - peeled and chopped 4-5 large carrots sliced into 1/2 inch pieces (aprox 2-3 cups) 1 green pepper 1-2 tbsp sea salt 1/2 tbsp pepper 2 tbsp olive oil optional: 2 tbsp Quick and Simple Seasoning Blend 1 cup chopped asparagus 1 small white potato Preparation: 1. Chop potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers and any other additional vegetables into thick one inch pieces. 2. Coat the vegetables in the olive oil and then place into a large baking pan. 3. Sprinkle the seasonings on top the vegetables and stir into the mixture to make sure the seasonings are evenly distributed. 4. Place on the top rack of the oven on broil at 400 degres for 15 mins. 5. Take the vegetables out of the oven and turn them carefully so that the bottom vegetables are now on top. 6. Continue to bake for another 15 minutes until vegetables are golden brown. 7. Let cool and serve. 8 This recipe is great with a side of plain greek yogurt for dipping the vegetables into Enjoy. Oh God. I am now.....that girl The fucking juicer. I always recommend eating the whole fruit instead because of all it’s nutritional benefits, but this is a nice way to enjoy REAL fruit juice with live nutrients, to get a straight hit of vitamins and ....to try something new why not I tried out my new juicer (that I got for free btw, I also got my slow cooker for free - all through the free drop table in my building- what a great way to #reuse things that others don’t want... It was clean. In great condition. I thought why not? One apple One pear One orange A few celery stalks And .....it was so delicious Now that is a lot of fruit sugar to be consuming, so I highly recommend that you share / force your partner to have some / or share it with somebody, and make sure you’re adding vegetables to your juice. But not too much celery or else it gets really salty I’m not a fan of salty juice. I don’t even know how I made this work. But it worked!!! Pinterest had a 3 ingredient muffin recipe which included banana, almond butter and cocoa powder So I tried it - however I added an egg and a tsp of baking soda I also added some dark stevia sweetened chocolate chips... All I can say is wow !!!
