I'M ALIVE!!!.Everyone in the BBB who helped with my mission,all have $50 gift cards(you know who you are). Now I owe you all apologies and they come from the deepest of my heart. Anyone who was here to pick-up books yesterday, please forgive me. You all have a gift coming your way when you pick-up your purchase. Now for the good news and bad news.Tejhler(a beautiful young women and still in the BBB )has a personal emergency to deal with and had to leave for the time being.... In case you didn't know: I was lucky enough to know both Donald Marshall Jr and Sr, who was Grand Chief of the Mi'kmaq in Membertou for 27 years before dying as chief. Justice has been denied from this family long before Jr finally won his Supreme Court ruling (after 2 appeals) giving the Indigenous the right to hunt and fish to provide for their families. Jr also spent 11 years of a life sentence in prison for a murder he didn't commit of his friend Sandy Seale. This Mi'kmaq... warrior spent 11 years in Dorchester Penitentiary, claiming his innocence every step of the way, knowing the true killer who committed this murder. He told the police who attacked him and Seale that night his friend was stabbed to death but the didn't care. Jr was even the man who called the police to try to save Sandy's life. They had a Mi'kmaq man in custody they knew they could convict because of Systematic racism in the Sydney courts and the all white jury that found him guilty. Now even after his death, justice is being denied to his Supreme Court ruling. This is also Systematic racism. Let's finally get some justice for the Marshall family. Their spirit lives on. Let's finally get some Justice for all the Mi'kmaq and Indigenous Peoples in Canada.The book Justice Denied focuses on the murder he didn't commit and was later exonerated of. The last few months were tough. I thought about shutting down the store completely. I thought about shutting the store and only selling online.Covid-19 has hurt me on such a financial and emotional level where I sometimes feel like just giving up. Anyone who know this store knows about the books outside all night.Both the adult but Especially the Free Kids books. For the last 2 days someone keeps coming and throwing huge boxes in the middle of of the sidewalk to ruin them in ...the rain. But tonight, I go out at midnight and not only had someone throw the boxes in the sidewalk,NOW THEY STARTED TEARING KIDS BOOKS IN HALF(and one adult book, Carl Jung's The Undiscovered Self..lol). I try to help my community. Should I start selling the Kids books in store? No! I provide these KIDS books for a reason but At least it would protect them from the Free Kids book Nazi. Everyone who knows me knows community is my main agenda. I can't do community events anymore and for the first time in my life I have no choice but to throw away literature in a recycling bin. And now I need some sleep. See more
